Norc CQ-A (M4) 5.56mm My 1st AR type rifle

80 bucks :D it was on EE for a while, I was like okay, old school why not. I had to modify the rail to fit the gun thou, norc is not 100% in spec.

Well the Norc extractor needed to be replaced. Just after 50 rounds from the weekend and 20 rounds yesterday it started to dbl feed/jam.
Parts are on order

Hmmmm. That's not good. I'd like to see a few more than 70 rounds before parts have to be replaced. I'm thinking of ordering a Norc. And I've been reading this with interest.

I guess it'll come down to support and timing for the fix. Keep us posted!!

It only had two stoppages however upon inspection of the extractor claw, it did'nt seem to be as pronounced or proud as others I've seen.
I was shooting AE (Federal) brass, maybe its softer than say the Winchester I have in stock? There was remnants of brass in the claw, there could have been more at times of stoppages? Which could stand to reason why it failed to extract and left the empty ctg in the chamber. This small piece of brass in the claw could've fallen out which led to successful operation for the next mag and then on the 3rd mag another piece was left in the extractor and failed to extract.
I'll make an attempt to shoot again this wknd and try different brands of ammo but as others have done, I too am changing out extractors.
I'll keep you posted :)

Have a few thousand Norc rounds down the barrel of mine, no problems at all. Hope it stays that way.

Norinco - Perfect choice for first AR, I have 4 now but still have the first one runs as good as my other expensive AR's.

"My NORINCO 10.5" (about 3000 rd's through it - all original, except grip) no complains.

What's the going rate for the CQ-A now? I bought one years ago for $699 and put over 5000 rounds through it without a single issue. I'd never had a failure with it and it ran and ran and ran. Last summer though, when prices on US ARs started dropping like flies, I flipped my Norc and bought an LE6920 and a CC SA20. I remember a CQ-A could be had for $500 during the US AR price war last year. If they're still around $500, I might get another one, maybe the 10.5in one.

I'd love to know if Marstar will bring in the C7A2 version. I'd rather NOT get one from the other guy.

I'd like to know that the QC problems are with the 10.5. Probably the vent diamêtre and short stroking. JOHN?

Haha, funny, I bought my 14.5” CQ-A from possibly "the other guy". Just a guess, but are you EME? If it's the same place I'm thinking about, they have a 10% off for CF members, and some of the staff are either Seaforths or BCR. I read a lot of hate for them, but they’ve always been good to me….not always friendly, haha, but I’ve never had bad service there. That being said, I've heard awesome things about Marstar, and though I have yet to buy anything from them, loads of guys from my unit swear by Marstar so it's just a matter of time for me to find something to buy.

Anyway, the other guy definitely have a full 20” version with the collapsible stock and removable carrying handle. I heard Norc hammer forges their barrels as well, but I’ve never seen it in writing so who knows. Hopefully Marstar will bring one in as well?

You can get a Colt Canada SA15.7 or SA20 at a discounted price through authorized retailers at a discounted rate under their IOP (which is also eligible to military members).

Got my SA20 from Korth (distributor) last year. At the time, it was the only way to get the mil discount and green furniture. By the time the IUR came out, it was done through the retailers.

There is a certain very large american website that starts with a B that does all the export paperwork for most exportable gun parts. They carry a ton of parts. So you can order an extractor upgrade kit or even a colt extractor. Also you can get a H or H2 cabine buffer and springs if you're so inclined. Some of these smaller parts are PITA to get in Canada. But I think making sure the bolt is wet actually makes the most difference.
