So how are these M4s for accuracy and reliability? How do they compare to the older Norinco 311s?

I'll give a range report after next weekend. Typically Chinese arms are pretty well made. You should expect it to be in the same ballpark as any other comparable AR. Remember its often more to do with the ammo and the shooter then the gun.

This is my first AR type rifle but have shot others over the years. Some real expensive US stuff.

Overall, the accuracy is typical of this type of rifle. With FMJ's 2 to 3 MOA at 100yds. If I can put my dot on the target, I can hit it. I have shot it out to 250yds with similar results. The dot on my scope is like 3 or 4 mins - typical sizing.

As to function, it has worked superbly. I have made reports on other threads and have tried to adjust things to make it stop working. I am also not cleaning my rig to see how that affects it.

I did clean around 300rds just to see what was happening and fouling was no biggie. I am over 700rds now with only a light use of syn grease to keep things working.

Cycles, feeds, ejects like a champ even with my efforts to make it stop. mags drop free. Like the ambi features.

I have just completed adj the gas system to make it cycle much softer. Changed the ejection pattern too which was neat. The rifle has cycled just fine.

My goal is to make my M4 shoot as soft as possible with 100% reliability. The gas system is as far as I can tweak it. Now for the buffer and spring.

The Norcs are USGI spec. US aftermarket fit. Build quality has been really good. Even the finish is decent. The gun shoots like any other USGI spec AR and it costs a whole lot less.

Hard to complain about that.

My 2 cents, keep in mind this is my first AR but I have handled and shot maybe 4 others over the years (CQ311, a custom?, a HBAR and one other-can't remember what) and handled a few more.
-fit and finish is not as good as an american one but better than the CQ311.
-the stock is sloppy
- more slop between the upper and lower than I've ever seen before.
- it works great and performed perfectly (40 shots and it still had the fabric wad in the action- never knew it was there untill I saw some pics in this thread.lol)
-it was a cost efective way to explore the benefits of an AR with out spending a couple of grand right out of the gate without knowing if its something really for me (it is) and can be upgraded slowly as time or money permit and you can keep the assessories for the next one:)
- accuracy with the fabric in the action (totally stock gun - uncleaned and as recieved) I easily put 15 rounds in about 3" with the majority in 2" or less at a 100 yards. Accuracy is light years ahead of an SKS.
- Do I still think I have recieved a good value from my purchase, yes definately.
- Would I spend an extra 500 for a better name / quality... maybe but I'm of the opinion it would be a larger difference. No??

well general target practice would like to use it in a 3 gun match most 50meter, yards?

I'd get a red do then. If you practice you should be pretty proficient with a good dot sight out to 200. Scopes are good too but can take longer to acquire the target. I would try to stay away from the low end stuff especially if you're planning to compete. Cheap optics usually net you as result similar to what you paid. I'm a big fan of Aimpoints especially the micro, I hear the vortex is good but you have to watch the mounts you use, lower 1/3 mounts like the Larue etc will probably obscure the sights with the sparc, that said I wouldn't want a true co-witness with a fixed front sight cause the front sight post distracts me. A great optic is the aimpoint comp C3 in 2MOA. If you're just plinking then the irons work too.

400 rounds 0 stoppages. Accurate out to 400 (prone) with stock sights. That's to say I can hit the target, didn't try grouping. probably around 2-3 MOA at 100. 16 years in CF, 10 in the infantry (9 with C7), fired lots of other "civvie" AR's. This looks, feels, handles, smells, and shoots like any other stock AR, but the trigger is a little creepy.

Best 699.00 I ever spent.:pirate:

Mine had the only true 3 stage trigger I have ever used. Was quite hilarious.

But it is an easy job to tune that creep out. You end up with a single stage that works very well.

You need to adjust the part that hits the safety though for full function. Safety still works but doesn't lever doesn't move to the full position.

Now hoping to get some lighter springs. Or I could just splurge and put in a Timney :)

2moa @ 100 yds with cheap ammo, reloads a little better, vortex strikefire 4moa red/green dot, 200+ rounds so far no problems. fit and finish acceptable for the price. at least $500 more for anything else, buy lots of ammo with the difference accessorize as req'd. if you like the AR platform sell it in a year lose next to nothing and swap parts to the next new toy.
