Frickin' rat bastard commie mags...

Anyhoo, I just bought an NZ-85 9mm and 4 mags. I thought I had no problems until I bought some ammo today. For giggles I tried to load up my mags with the winchester 124gr FMJ I had bought.

I could only get one of the four mags to load all 10. All of the mags sometimes decided to jam and not feed properly (Not in the gun mind you, just thumbing them out).

It seems that those commie bastards decided to neuter the mags by punching a nasty hole in the back at the 10 round level and that the jagged pieces left over are what stop the follower. It also seems that the jagged pieces tend to catch the legs on the follower stopping it at 6,7,8 rounds (depending on the mag), catching on the spring (in all cases) and being a general pain in my a55.

Anyone have a similar experience? Constructive comments on fixing it?

I know I should have gone and thrown the commie junk in the river the second I got it and went and got a Springfield 1911 like a real man:rolleyes: but I'm way too cheap for that so lets try to keep to the problem at hand. :D

cheapest fix would robably be to disassemble the mags and have a go at them with a file or something to smooth out the internals Barring that, hock the crappy ones on the EE for someone's project and get some Mec-Gars

Yet another fine example of why Norinco products are considered crap..

The Chinese political prisoners who make that junk under peril of death for those rat-bastard Chi-coms are not to blame.
Blame the fools that buy that junk from the Red-Chinese Commie army company called Norinco.
Buy at your own peril.

Generally Nasty evil overlords don't have political prisoners working in weapons factories, as they generally find a way to smuggle out weapons. Most of China's arms factories date to prior to the revolution if I recall, and I wouldn't doubt that some of them have multi-generational workers.

I had the same problem with two of mine, The follower has a notch that fits around the hole punched in the back to block them at ten. The notch just needs to be opened up a bit then they work just fine. I could only get nine in, I kept them loaded for a few nights then squeezed the tenth in and kept it loaded for another few nights. After that they both worked great. I'm up to about 1,500 rounds on the 5 mags not a single FTF or FTE. I used it for the CDP course and it worked great.

Good to know. I spent some time with a file narrowing the protrusion on one of my mags and it seems to have fixed it completely. That was too much like work so I'll try your method for the rest of them.

Thanks!

I 2nd that notion, i don't understand why so many people are buying this stuff?

"I just got a norc 1911, and spent $400 making it good" Why didn't you just buy some thing good?

If you take it out of the box and it sucks, it's CRAP period.:slap:

Honestly, all you gun-snobs can GTFO. You want to go have a Norinco bashing thread, then go do it on your own time, I need help with my mags and none of your gawdammed "bip-bip-bipping" is gonna solve my problems.:bangHead:

Getting back to the magazine problem...

I found a place in the states with cheaper Mecgar mags ($20 ea)...I have some on order right now. I'll let you know how that pans out in case the other (valid) suggestions above don't help.

The Norc mags are kinda crappy. Mec-Gar makes very affordable mags which work great in my NZ-85 and NP-40.

Filing the metal on the punch-hole will probably solve your problem, but be careful not to file too much off or your mag will become "unpinned" (full capacity) and then you could go to jail if the CFO catches you!
