Yea it would be nice to see more test results and work around's from Lost. Thomas you no doubt have summed up the action itself and the many variables that can induce rounds outside the mean average and it's limitations. I'm thinking the generous NATO chamber versus a match type chamber allowing the rounds to sit canted however she feeds them is one draw back in absolute accuracy and it would appear logical at a glance, that the changing upward pressure on the bolt would progressivly lower the canting in the vertical plane all others things equal. Just a thought anyways.
But one thing I always say about these rifles is this, look at most of Lost..again's groups, or other groups if fired with the same rifle with NATO ball, albeit larger groups,..... that little vertical stringing is not necessarily a totally debilitating thing when you consider what the rifle was built for, ownership of your perimeter out to 500meters+.
A little up or a little down still plants them in the hurt zone, just check out a 11/59 target fired with Lost's Rifle at 400 meters.
Now if these groups were inherently strung in the windage direction at say 3 or 4MOA, and throw in a little sight error, zero error, and a little wind and now we have an ineffective rifle at 400-500 meters and the vertical strung tight windage will hurt everytime. Remember that this is a Battle Rifle and the original owners(US Army&Marine Corp) knew what they needed it to do and that's not putting 2 rounds in the x-ring on all five bulls with an Anshutz .22.
