My warranty replacement gun ran great. It is better then my first one. Is CA going to give us a heads up when they are down to their last, lets say 25 guns so us should I just buy ammo or get the combo guys can decide?????????

I hope he will let us know when he is down to his last 300 cause there will be a run on them and I need another for my son! Just gotta get the cash together!!

Finally pulled the trigger on this combo. Had to hold off because of the anniversary, but hey, you only see a deal like this once right? The wife will get over it...

My son and I have acquired some of these Canada Ammo Norinco 1911s. All of them shoot about 2 to 4 inches left, for me. This is not unusual. Most guns that shoot POA for other shooters hit to the left for me. All but one had perfect elevation. One shot about 4" high.

I tried to drift the rear sights, but even with a large bolt for a drift and a good sized hammer, with slide in a vice, the rear sight would not budge.

I posted a message here, asking if there was any truth to the rumour that the sights were LocTited or soldered in place. Nobody confirmed that, but others reported they could not get the sight to move.

I could not see any evidence of solder, which seemed like an unlikely explanation anyway, but LocTite did seem like a possibility. So I applied heat with my BBQ starter wand, then soaked in oil, and hit it hard. No luck.

Today I went to see Rodger Kotanko about some other gun issues, but I took a bag of 1911 slides and told him of the problem. He was skeptical of the solder and LocTite theory, too. He put the first slide in his vice, and used a nylon block and a hammer. On the first blow the sight flew across the room. This was the same one I had heated and oiled.

WTF???

I noted oil on the bottom of the dovetail, so I think in the week the slide sat around, the oil finally gut into where it could do some good. There was no sign of LocTite. But the dovetail was kinda rough. The sight was nicely made and very smooth. My theory is that in the 15 years or so the guns were in storage, the rough dovetail grabbed the steel sight. Oil is your friend.

The other slides had not been oiled. One sight popped out very easily. Two others took a steel punch and some strong whacks with a good sized hammer.

I decided that the pistol that shot high needed a taller front sight. In my sight bin I had a fibre optic front sight with a Colt Series 70 tenon (correct sight for a Norc). It is about 100 thou taller than the stock sight (making it shoot lower - what I want).

This is too much correction (I think) so I took the opportunity to install a taller (by about 70 thou) rear sight.

The other slides got the original rear sights put back on. They are now adjustable for left right without having to use a sledge hammer. I used a needle file to clean up the dovetail, so it is not rough and broke the sharp edges on the sight base. A dab of oil in the dovetail probably helped, too.

Hey, that's great!

Thanks for sharing man. Maybe you can post this in the Modding 1911 thread as well, because there are a ton of Norc owners itching to mod their guns. I know I wanted to do something about the facotory sights, but didn't have the nerve to do it.

I was going to mod the hell out of my newest Can Am deal 1911A1, but decided I'm going to leave it stock and play around with a Police Model I just picked up.

Thanks again!

Ordered mine on the 5th! Hasn't been processed yet, but it's only been a couple business days since. Anyone have any word on how quickly they're getting these processed and shipped recently?

That's what I figured, I actually just received an email from them telling me it was being processed! I'm excited! hopefully the deal will be around for some time yet so I can get one for the wife as well!

I'm not in a rush at all, but I'm just surprised at how long mines taken. Shipped yesterday so no big deal. It's just weird how everyones talking about orders that processed and arrived in half the time mine did. But in no way am I complaining, just stating some orders take longer sometimes as everyone should know.

Mine both took a month + or- a day shipped across the country, that is fantastic, FREE shipping!

All pistol calibers are pew, pew, pew... Don't really get BOOM, BOOM, BOOM until we're talking long guns or Magnum rounds!

We had the .45 and tt33 7.62x25 out last week and when we released the krakens ,all heads turned, boom, boom, boom! One that penetrates body armour and the other that puts the perp. ass over kettle!

Come on pavmentsurfer I've got my stock gun in front of the screen and it sure doesn't look like that!!!! Tell us all the other things you have done to that gun????

www.arma-coat.ca

Its got only bolt on parts.
-Wilson combat grip safety
-Dlask trigger
-FAB grip/magwell
-New hammer (not sure what brand, a buddy had it in his parts bin)
-Extended mag release from my SR-1911

Thats all, nothing overly impressive. But the arms-coat made the biggest difference.
