I ordered on the 27th and just got an update that they have initiated the transfer. Now the race is on to see what arrives first, the grips I ordered from Thailand or my order from CanAm.

4. Many posters claim to have replaced springs upon purchase, either NIB or used. I would expect these springs to be ok for some time unless you immediately wish to start tweaking, thoughts? Any issues?
5. For a (short?) period, there was an issue with some barrel lugs peening or even shearing off and it seemed like it was not specifically related to guns after thousands of rounds either. Nobody appears to be able to narrow down any kind of serial number range where this was observed and it was suggested that the issue was eventually resolved. Anybody noticed any kind of early wear showing up inside?

In general, most posts, especially by U.S. shooters indicated a high regard for Norinco firearms (I guess "absence makes the heart grow fonder" since they can't have them, lol). Eager to hear replies. I'm still looking forward to these pistols.

Crickets...Tagged if anyone can answer, I too await transfer on this deal (too good to pass up)...but then again, you know what they say, "If it's too good to be true, it usually is".

Alright, I'll take a crack at some answers for you, though I'm far from an expert...

1,2&4: In my experience it's hit and miss with how the Norc's fit together. Some are loose and rattle a lot, some are tight, and some are in between to varying degrees. I've had some really nice triggers, and some that were quite heavy. New springs from Wolff or another quality supplier might help with this and is probably why people swap them out. Actually, I think I'll try it myself on one to see if it makes a noticeable difference.
3: Front slide serrations are found on the 'Sport', 'Police', or other 'Enhanced' models. They still make them without the front serrations, and the CanAm combo deal examples are made this way(they're standard 1911A1 Gov't models). Check out the pics on Marstar's site to see the differences for yourself.
5: I had one that did this on the first 50 or so rounds, and it was a newer one. I think it just had a poorly fitted barrel, and the slide material being as hard as it is pounds the barrel lugs pretty good.

All in all, they're good value for the money. You might get a dog, but you might get a nice surprise also. Either way, they're like diamonds in the rough, and great for fixing up to your own taste.

Your comments wrt items 1, 2 & 4 where pretty much what I expected to hear in general what with Chinese QC not being as high as we would like. I still would like to hear from people getting theirs from this particular order to see what kind of variance we might be looking at. Many posters did mention Wollf spring packages as their preferred swap-out.

Item 3 clarification doesn't surprise me. Forum posts often didn't specify a particular model and there were many pics of non-serrated forward section of slides mixed with other pics showing forward serrations.

Item 5, I guess, can be minimized by close inspection before just "banging" away as long as you know what to look for internally. I'm old but still a self-proclaimed noob on semi handguns with a lot of study to do to get myself up to speed (but that's why I'm on this forum!)

my brand new 599.00 Canada Ammo Norinco deal was very clean, some sharp bits on the slide but all in all very nice looking. it was the Police Model so it too had the serrations in the front. I gave it all a good clean and took it to the range. I went with a buddy of mine. He is one of those types that own everything or has owned everything. His reply to my new Norinco can't be made public(children do read this). So here I am side by side with some of my buddies fancy Kimbers, Glocks, and sigs and me with my not so fancy cheap Norinco. Well it shot clean, very clean without any failures with 500 plus rounds(it was a long day, my buddy reloads). The trigger was heavy but not unreasonable, the slide to frame was tight. the springs looked rusted but they are an alloy or something . I have to say that I'm a better shot than I expected and the Norinco performed flawlessly save one, the sights on mine weren't that noticeable in the first place and after 50 rounds or so the front sight was indistinguishable with the background, it might have been covered with carbon or maybe my not so good old man eyes. I might want to swap the sights out for a more visible set.

The Norinco ammo has what seems to be a bigger bang and they are much dirtier than my buddies precision reloads. But here is the great part of my purchase, I let him shoot my new norc and he was impressed and so was I..... thank you Canada ammo.... and thank you Norinco, so to all those naysayers – out of the box this gun rocked. Now it was the Police model and it is a little more refined than this 499 deal. I got mine a week ago and decided to swap it out for a different one. But by all accounts it will be the same, a great shooter out of the box.
 
Has anyone figured out recently about how many of these combos are left? Just curious. I ordered in the first 12 hours, I was worried then that I might miss the deal. I had no idea of the quantity CanAm had.
 
ordered April 26, payment processed May 5, have NOT yet received transfer initiated notification. I wonder how come others (||||||) who ordered after me have already received it a week ago? I guess the stars were aligned in their favor, or maybe mine - because the best ones are at the back of the container?!? ....patiently waiting.... (I did get an email from Canam saying that I was still in line.)
 
Since I'm now on the waiting for transfer list .... I'm wondering what has been the experience for the turnaround time from the BC CFO on this deal?
I know CA is using 'bulk' transfers so I'm wondering if that has spurred the BC CFO to be a little more efficient also.

What's been the experience of the BC crew so far?
 
Ordered on the 24th, payment processed on April 30. Transfer initiated on May 15. I called CFC today and got confirmation that the transfer was approved (Ontario) last week, but have not had a status update yet from Canam. Still shows "awaiting approval before shipping" on the Canam status page. Will continue plinking with .22 for now ...
