Next time i go to crappy tire, im going to get some lapping paste. The slide could really use some smoothing. I tried a kimber at the range. I shouldn't have. What a sweet gun!

I did this when I first got the gun. It was all apart in pieces to clean out all the packing grease, so this was a quick additional step before lubing.

It made a huge difference.

I did pick up some blueing compound to apply to the rails post lapping, but I haven't applied it as of yet, only because I don't feel like stripping it clean again as of yet. Perhaps once I get through a bunch of rounds I will repeat the detail cleaning process.

The deal has gone, but would most folks agree that this could be the official/unofficial Norinco 1911 thread? Or is there one already?

Anyway, for the 1911 from the Can Am deal, I suggest a nice pair of wood grips, it really makes it pop:

Just got these grips in the mail from Springfield Armories.
