Norinco .223 1600 round crates.... Do I need a giant can opener???

This may sound dumb....If I was to put the spam can key in my gun safe and just left spam can on a bottom shelf in the pantry. Could I get dinged for unsafe ammo storage. Because techinically it is stored in a secure metal container that is not easily opened. It would make a handy door stop

You can store you ammo legally on a shelf in whatever room you please. It does not have to be locked up. Ammunition is governed by the Explosives Act. Not the Firearms Act

I thought they passed a law after the LGR was thrown out that said we are required to lock our ammunition up?

Yes - you could get "dinged."

Even if you were in the right with the law, the prosecutor/police would charge you with dozens of charges with the intention to force you to plea bargain away the charges (in exchange for a 5 year prohibition) rather than face a very expensive trial to prove your innocence.

Remember whenever it comes to guns, you are ALWAYS presumed guilty until proven innocent.

don't know if anybody else got one, but I bought a crate 7.62 x 39 mm Romanian surplus from Le Baron, 1320 rds, packed 66 bxs of 20 rds each, no spam cans. When I opened the crate there was a 8 inch can opener lying on top of the ammo. Took me a while to figure out what it was. Nice surprise.

That was the updated explosives regulations. It was stopped after a massive letter and email campaign from CGN members. Our collective voice is loud enough to make a difference sometimes. Keeping that in mind, join CSSA, and email or write the Government asking them to put a stop to the CFO over reaching on the ATT regulations.

His mark up is very good to say the least. I think he would do it all day long with a smile.

I am really surprised that some of the other banner advertizers don't offer free shipping on orders over $100. Tradex has some free shipping offers but not like Can Ammo

Can AM is an importer of Norinco ammunition just like Marstar. Most retail dealers buy from these guys or other distributor only sources so there is not as much room to allow for free shipping. The first batch of Norinco ammo we sold last year was in yellow 20 round boxes and the current stuff we sell is now in the spam cans. I am torn in which one I like best as I like sealed long term storage but once you open up a can (unless you use it all right then) then you have to repack it. I usually dump the remainder of the can in a traditional metal 5.56 surplus ammo can. The actual ammunition appears similar between the yellow box and spam cans and we have not received any negative feenack on either one. Phil.

Just got my crate this weekend. The crate is wooden and marked as 5.56. When opened the crate has a heavy plastic bag with individual yellow 20 round boxes marked. 223. Mine are also head stamped 93.

Picked up 2 cases today at the Red Deer Canadian Tire South.
Listed for $489, but the manager John is willing to wheel and deal. got him down to $425 each!
saved me a trip to shooting edge in Calgary where it is $420 right now. , now to figure out this can opener thing......
