Norinco 5.56... To Buy or Not to Buy?

I also heard that .556 has a thicker case don't know if its true or not so if reloaded for a 223 it will create higher pressure because the case capacity is reduced because the brass is thicker?

There isn't any difference beyond normal variation between manufacturers.

Other cases, like .308 and 7.62x51, do have a significant difference in thickness between military and commercial brass. A good rule of thumb is to reduce powder charges by 1-2 grains when reloading .308 with military brass.

I just did a little measuring on some cases, Norinco yellow box marked 223 head stamp C J 93, case length-1.76" bullet-54.6-grs.FMJ, powder-25.6 grs., OAL 2.25". Korean brown box marked 5.56MM BALLE 193M ammo head stamp P S 8 1, case length 1.758", bullet-55grs.FMJ, powder-27.5 grs., OAL 2.25" I don`t know if this helps any, some Win white box marked 223 55gr FMJ was 2.24" OAL and some Rem 223 55gr FMJ 2.17" OAL For the price of this stuff i will run it through the Kel-Tec, till the reciever cracks.:D

Then you will sell me the other 798 rounds ? :p

But Canada Ammo will price match and include free shipping.

Thanks luke s, I just ordered 2 crates from CanAm using your link for a price match.

I contacted the place in that link I got a quote of $450 shipped to my door! When you work it out, that's about $399 + tax

So if canam price matches, and ships free, then that comes to $450 again, so there both very similar in price, if not the same.

I tried to get CanAm to price match that link and they refused, insisting the other guy was out of stock and that they couldn't price match someone who was out of stock, I explained that I had just spoken with the guy and that stock was not an issue and CanAm still refused to match. This is weird, I have always had such great service from them. Oh well I ordered a case from the place in that link instead for $450 shipped to my door. That's 28 cents per round. Awesome!

I would have preferred to give my business to CanAm as they've been so good to me in the past, but why pay an extra $50??? I just wonder why they would price match for so many others here and why I would get the shaft like that. It makes me think someone must have made a mistake, it's just so out of character for them.

These prices will be hard to beat, and probably will never be seen this low again!

Thank you Luke S for that link

apparently rusty wood doesn't have any physically and are selling off their next shipment due in any day... So I was told from my friend who called

Ic, the guy I spoke with on the phone at Rusty Wood said he would most likely be shipping it out to me today, so perhaps it's not in hand yet, who knows, I paid for it and just got a Canpar tracking number so as long as it get's to me buy next week I'm happy.

I don't feel wronged by CanAm or anything like that, I was just VERY surprised to here them say NO to me after giving the same deal to so many others, I was polite, am a returning customer, and have had nothing but good experiences, oh well, I will still order from them in the future when I see a good deal, and I'm sure I will have good experiences in the future as well.

@luke s: Can you point me to that? In their price match thread it states they'll match any advertised price in Canada...however, it might be somewhere on their website...just haven't found it yet...

Just called rusty wood myself and confirmed that 399 plus tax is the price and shipping is NOT included and shipping is dependant on my location. Wonder where the mis information is coming from.

Rusty Wood is in Mission, and I'm only in Victoria, perhaps that's why the non existent shipping charge for myself, who knows. I guess you confirmed that they do in fact have it in stock also????

Well I was a little disappointed when I read the other posts here that CanAm was not price matching the Rusty Woods $399/crate price. I had ordered (on the website) 2 crates with a price match request. The good news (for me at least) is that I just got e-mail confirmation from CanAm as follows:
"$893.76 AFTER THE PRICE MATCH ON NORINCO .223 REM 5.56 AMMO"
according to my math, that's $399 x2= 798 +12%= $893.76
I think I lucked out with the timing, I assume that when they checked my e-mail, that RW still had stock at $399.

We supply many of the stores with this ammo, so we have a pretty good idea who has stock and who does not.

We will always price match if the store has it in stock when we process the order.

If this is the case, then why did you refuse to price match Rusty Wood for me? I'm not angry about it and I don't mean to make a big issue out of it, I am just curious. I spoke with Peter at Rusty Wood less than 5 minutes b4 I had spoken with you, he said stock was not an issue, but when I tried to tell you this, you said you had just spoken with him and he had none left, I called him again to make sure, and sure enough he had lots he said, so I ordered from him instead and saved $50. The ammo arrived less than 24 hours later, so he must have had good stock when I ordered because it got here so quick, it was shipped out that same day.

I hold no feelings of ill will towards CanAm, I think you guys are awesome, I just don't understand why I couldn't get the same price you (according to this thread) gave to so many other customers???

I will be looking in to it on monday with my staff

I learned about the price match thing the day Canam charged my credit card and shipped the crate, if I knew earlier I would have mentioned it on the order and saved 50$.

A lot of people are buying A LOT more than one case. This could be a savings of big $$$. Nothing against Rusty Wood, but I have always gone to CanAm in the past, and I am usually a "stick to one shop" kind of a guy, so as long as I could get the same price, I would have preferred to order from CanAm, as I trust them and have had good experiences in the past. If I had not just spoken with Rusty Wood, I probably would have taken CanAm's word that Rusty was out of stock and I'd have paid the extra $50 too, then when i found out Rusty had stock I would have been upset.

Think about if you had bought 10 cases how pissed you'd be that you'd wasted $500 bux you didn't have too. I guess this is the game we play, we can't possibly search every possible source for ammo in Canada before we buy. So many places don't list on the internet, or don't update there website's.

Well, that wouldn't happen since Canam has a deal of 10 crates for $399 each. ;)

For some people, like me, 50 bucks means a lot.
