Norinco 7.62X51 review

Well I'm almost through my first crate of Norinco 7.62x51 and I must say that I am surprised by its quality or perhaps more so its lack of crappieness. ( I was prepared for the worst)

Over 500 rounds through my Norinco M14 alone have given me 4-5 inch groups at 100 yards and that's with iron sights. I did have a trigger job done on it though with moderate accurizing

At 500 yards I was hitting the human silhouette steel gong 60% of the time. THAT surprised me as it did the other shooters!

There have been no fail to fires yet and no case failures despite the copious warnings on the internet about 25% failure rate on the cases.

I am very happy with this ammo and I have more on the way.

Thank you Canada Ammo for giving me the ability to "plink" with a 7.62X51 at $0.39 a round!

ive only gone through about 150 of mine! but yea its very impressive for nork !!
i cant believe how clean it is compared to some other surplus ive gotten!! didn't look any dirtier than commercial stuff!!
i will be buying more!!

I too find it to be decent ammo. Goes bang everytime without destroying your rifle, what more can you ask for, lol
Also as said here its not overly dirty and its priced well. Its hard to judge barrel wear as a whole after 500 rounds but it doesnt seem to cause excessive wear to me.

thats good to hear I`m waiting for my crate to show up. I was getting nervous after hearing all the bad talk about it. On a side note how long did you wait to get it from Canadaammo.com? My payment has came off my card but it is still yet to be shipped.

Don't worry, they are spot on. You'll get it. I wouldn't be surprised if it shipped already and they haven't updated it just yet.

I got a case of 1000. Shot about half at a weekend pistol course. Had 1 FTF. Bad primer I suppose. The primer was partially sticking out of the shell after I ejected the round.

A simple Tap/Rack/Bang fixed it (after holding sight pic on target for 30 seconds).

Other than that, it ran flawlessly and accurately. Will buy more once I'm done spending money on gear and gun accessories.

I had 5,000 rounds at one time and am down to 3,600 now. Not a single problem in 1,400 rounds.

I sold my South African stuff as I found my M305 likes this better.

YMMV.

Took me exactly 29 days from the time i placed my order untill the ammo was at my door.

LOL you are like an acne on a butt

I bet you were bullied at school. That is why you are trying to look tough on an internet forum

I've shot 1000's and never a problem with regular M14s but with my shorties I had upgraded the oprod springs and had lots of problems with Norc ammo, would not pick up the 2nd round. My reloads and AE worked fine so I figured the Norc was not hot enough. I switched back to Norc springs and problem solved. On my RFB, it does not like Norc ammo and is due to the steel case, brass is fine.

About half way through my case of norinco, m14s loves it, no issues yet. I tried it in my XCR-M, ya...not doing that again. It would only work if I single shot it, would fail to eject and fail to load every time even with the gas valve cranked up. I suspect it doesn't like the steel case ammo, I guess when you spend close to 3k on a rifle, might want to run some high grade ammo through it.
