Norinco 7.62X51 review

We had brass cased and steel cased norc at one time. I assumed brass would shoot better, but the steel won every time. I was surprised.
 
The Norc 7.62x51 shoots fine out of my Rem 700.

However, my RFB dose not like it at all; Constant FTEs. Other (brass) rounds work fine. It's too bad 'cause the reason I bought so much Norc was to feed her.

Hopefully CanadaAmmo will have another shipment of surplus brass 7.62.
 
It's 7.62x51NATO, not 308win.

Military hard primer. Designed for real life killing using a heavy machine gun.

Solution: buy a M14!

I had to set my gas valve to 5 at first for the bolt to go all the way back to eject the empty casing. Then after about 100 rounds I was able to turn it down to 4. Anything lower it would not eject/load properly. Guess the XCR-M likes hotter rounds (.308 is fine even on lower gas settings).

This is not good to here. I bought a case for my RFB as well. I haven't had a chance to shoot yet, but I'm hoping I have a different experience. Did you adjust your gas system ?

Yes. I tried several rounds at each setting with no better results. I leave it at 4 (from bottom) normally.

From examining the spent casings, it looks like the extractor won't let the spent casings go (to feet them on to the ejection ramp), but just holds on to them and tries to re-feed them. I have to pry them out with a tool.

Sometimes I can get 2-3 rounds off without a problem but never a full mag.

I am very far from being a gunsmith though.

I bought 900 rounds of surplus South African 7.62x51 (from Canada Ammo of course!) and they work flawlessly.

:confused:

No such problem with my Gen2 RFB.

Could be a burr on the claws or bolt face or a binding or dirty extractor spring.
It should be remembered that Keltec does NOT recommend steel cased ammo for the RFB.

Let me guess you werent hugged enough as a child right?,,,,,,, or you have sand in your mangina
 
I found that my old norc m305 could shoot it all day, but my M100 and savage bolt action rifles tended to lock up the action/bolt with it. For the cost though, if your rifle will shoot it then great.
