Norinco 780 Unboxing/Review (Picture Heavy) **UPDATED, SHOOTING TEST**

Seriously - take that conglomeration of metal parts apart - put them back into the box from whence they came - and send them back to the person that sold it to you.

Hope for a refund - but if one isn't forthcoming (and really, what kind of idiot would warrant that piece of crap?) - just chalk it up to a poor purchasing decision and move on.

But don't shoot it anymore - its not a firearm - and I very much doubt its safe to discharge ammunition from, much less 3'' 12 gauge.

To continue shooting it after the warning signs you have already been presented would be the very pinnacle of foolishness.

30 rounds destroyed it, and it was essentially non-functioning for the whole test.

for 99 bucks you had to spend $3.30 for each round fired before the gun was worn out, and it would not cycle.

If you buy an 870P, it will easily fire 50K rounds without issue and they will all cycle. That works out to $0.015 per round fired. Plus, the 870 won't even be worn out yet when you are done.

You should have lit a $100 bill on fire and watched it burn. Would have been safer for ya and probably more entertaining.

Uhmm, at the end of your report, after describing how you had to glue parts of the gun back together, you say you are going to continue to use it "until it breaks in a manner that is not reparable without spare parts" and then you wish us happy and safe shooting?

Kindly do us all a favour and wish yourself a happy and safe shooting future by junking that thing without shooting it again.

I believe you live in Quebec, right? Any chance some town or city near you will do a "gun buyback" and give you a gift certificate for something in exchange for that heap of metal?

I bet If you polish the chamber a little the empties will come out easier. If i were you I would run your finger carefully into the chamber and feel for any burrs remove any you find.

Well it is true it is not hard to waste 100 bucks i would hate to do it on something like that
better spent on ammo.
Now im no expert by far but in researching prior to my first and still only shotgun
i too was not looking to spend a ton and what was quickly obvious in my search
was this gun was a waste of time and more convincing down right dangerous.
I am very glad you were not injured but if these malfunctions were not enough to convince you this gun is a accident waiting to happen
i do worry for you.
By the way i got a maverick 88 and it operates flawlessly and all my digging said as much
no frills but a workhorse just added a limbsaver so it was manageable with slugs.
Take this as a life lesson and walk away while you can.
Safe shooting

You will also note at the end of the review, he has asked "For $99, why not?"

If you seriously need to ask that question after a review like that...

Also everyone, please do keep in mind that I have quite a few other shotguns. I bought this one because it was cheap, yes, but most of all because I wanted some kind of project gun. A challenge . I do believe I got what I asked for, wouldn't you all agree?

Your face will soon be challenged imo. An explosive challenge.

I would NOT use this time bomb if i were you.

It's something I'll do over the weekend most likely. Now that my review of the "stock" gun is over, I'll see what kind of modifications I can perform in order to make it work better. The ejection problem seems to be a logical start indeed.

Buy a better shotgun is the modification I'd make.

I am glad I only paid $79.99 for mine last year when they first tried to get rid of them!! Didn't shoot it,, won't shoot it as them horror stories came in quickly thereafter. Bolt carriers blowing up bolts blowing up, trigger assemblies being destroyed! Anybody wanna buy a wall hanger? But do not shoot it!

Norinco Homeland Security 780 = DEATH TRAP

A very strong word of caution to those contemplating firing that model... DON'T! Your life is worth more...

I bought one over the weekend for $75 strictly for the firing pin and to have spare parts for my Dominions Arms Grizzly 12.5 inch shotty,

The Firing Pin retaining pin would not come out and literally swallowed my 1/8 steel punch whole which broke off in bolt permanently trapping the firing pin inside. (the punch likely cost more than the firing pin)

Before this I had tried simply swapping out the entire bolt assembly with the DA Grizzly but they would not interchange...

And even prior to this I cleaned up the HS 780 in hopes of testing it, however in doing so pieces of pot-metal began shearing off the slide bar tracks when cycling the pump which led to the bolt failing to lock closed.

Had I fired it I would, without a doubt, be in the hospital right now with lacerations to my face possibly fighting for my life...

Finally in conclusion this is truly the only suitable reaction to the problems with this death trap, as I would not gift this POS to my worst enemy or nor dare return it to the seller for a full refund, it's simply just that unsafe:

Jeez, that's quite a statement ..... Hope you didn't get any grinding particles in your Stella Artois. Wouldn't have been worth it.
