Norinco 780 Unboxing/Review (Picture Heavy) **UPDATED, SHOOTING TEST**

Yea, I was thinking of getting a bolt carrier made by a machine shop but it would probably cost to much, they were sold as needing a bit of tinkering, some guys got lucky and theirs work fine! I could never sell it without telling someone about it, I guess the best way is show them this thread!

Thanks for the review. I haven't laughed that hard at this site in a while.

Can anybody explain the dramatic difference in metal quality between this and the HP-9?

Why the heck are these guns still in circulation? With all the disasters posted about them, all we need now is for one to blow up while in the hands of a child to give the antis more fuel for their fire! The minimum requirement for a modern firearm is for it to be, at least, safe!

No idea on the HP-9 (I understand that's a much better gun and similar to the DA Grizzly) but below is a picture of the pot-metal that sheared off during dry cycling, it supports the draw bar and ultimately puts pressure on the bolt to lock it in place safely when firing... well in theory... doesn't do that job sitting on my table does it...

Simply put, this gun is not a fair representation of what China typically produces, more of a disastorous one off that has lawsuit written all over it... I'm sure SFRC regrets flooding the marketplace with these... well they should anyway... I agree it's just scary they are still out there!

Probably came out of one of the lower rent factories.

"Norinco" is basically just a sales/distribution/marketing entity. They get firearms from all kinds of different factories all over China

Some of the factories have long histories as armories, good machining, skilled labourers, strong quality control, etc. etc.

Some of the factories might well be making bicycles one week, shotguns the next, without any real experience in the firearms industry. They'll grab a sample of a firearm, copy it to the best of their ability, without really understanding what's going on, and why you need to use different types of metals and hardness in different parts of the gun.

If you ever have an afternoon to kill, scroll through "Forgotten Weapons" for the various videos he's done on mystery pistols that have come out of China. Some of them are actually quite well made. Some of them are more dangerous to the guy holding it than the guy in front of it.

INTERESTING INFO i will be reconsidering my plan t0 purchase an 780 norinco HAND GRENADE !!
Why would you bring up a thread from 3 years ago, these have been gone since then, however,,, I just happen to have a brand new, yet to be shot/blown up that I got from sfrc! They are actually very nice looking rigs but I don't have the cajunee's to squeeze the trigger!
