Norinco 870 14" owners thread

same one I have my friend has the old version and they are identical but for the homeland security on the side
Have you tried any aftermarket parts on it? I have a Knoxx Spec-ops and other 870 bling for it and I want it to fit right. I see here and on a couple of other threads that the 780 won't fit aftermarket stuff. My Knoxx will be here on Tuesday I hope and if it doesn't fit I'll be returning it right away.

The action seems really smooth, if the Knoxx fits, which I begin to doubt, I might keep it. It looks way longer behind the safety to the stock than a HP9-1 which might cause the finger pinching I have read about with the Knoxx stock on some Norinco clones. I think I am going to wait on the Knoxx and see what I think from there. I just hate being sold something that is not what I thought it was.

Yeah they have a super lame 'hump' on the back that is not present on a real 870/HP9. If your is smooth, you got lucky.

I have NO idea how a batch of these craptastic poo-bags were imported as HP9's, because they AIN'T! Rarely have I despised a firearm so much. It would not surprise me at ALL if the receiver stock thread is metric on the 780 and the Knoxx doesn't fit. I had a Knoxx on one of my HP9's and it fit fine.

Here's mine!

I got the Homeland Security by accident. Dealer told me it was an HP-9, and since it was still in the grease, I did not know until I got it home. Double fed shells right out of the box. Worst $300 I have ever spent, taking it back to the dealer next gun show.

This prompted me to buy an 870 with police wood, and now I am just looking around for a 14" barrel with a bead sight.

Anybody know where to find one? I don't care if it is an HP-9 or otherwise, I just need one with the bead sight.

Has anyone had issues with the shell interrupter on the HP9? I got my gun the other day from Frontier, stripped, cleaned and reassembled it with no left-over parts and the action is nice, but there are quite a few double feeds and shells failing to load.

I was using snap caps (stupid plastic ones - can't find metal anywhere) and I thought that might be the problem so I cycled shells through it and still had the double feeds. I put a little more curve in the interrupter and it helped, but it still happens.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

BTW, this link gives a nice method for clearing a double feed in a couple of seconds. I was unaware of the method.

Yes, I had problems with mine. Thought it was the cosmoline, but it was still double feeding or failing to feed at all.

Bring it back and get a refund. This seems to be common with all 780 homeland expresses. Use the money to get the proper Norinco 870, not the 780.

Thanks for the info Kevin. Mine says "HP9", so I think it is the 870 clone.

At Plink's great advice I bought an HP9 from the EE Forum... Works real well. Now my son wants to take it for a bout with his tree planting adventures (read: bear defense) this coming summer.

My HP9 is decked out in Remington Camo RealTree that I bought for around $ 80 for the stockset at Epps in Orillia, and R3 pad (I'm a sissy in my old age...)

Time for some Scattergun Technologies sights! I like that setup!

What are the HP9's with 14" barrel selling for these days anyway? I mean an actual HP9 not the 780 homeland security thing.

Being that they seem to be harder to get now days and can ammo and marstar seem to take a year to get them, $350 to 400 is what i see them going for.
Mostly $350 + tax ect..
