Norinco AKS

12.5 prohib, just like 99% of all other AK variants. Must have been a typo if it said restricted.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Cuz we said so....

I'm sure that would be their answer.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this Norinco a full-auto weapon (signified by the "deactivated war trophy" fee)...?

Is that why it's a prohibited..? Or just because it's an "AK variant"..? The specific model "Norinco AKS" isn't listed on the OIC #13 list...

Norincos were made in full auto and given to third world armies, etc. The semi auto norincos that you see occasionally for sale in Kanada are for (and from)the grandfathered 12(5) owners. Just some info for you younger guys, it wasn't long ago that these were unrestricted. Went restricted in 1992 and prohibited grandfathered in 1994-5. You all have been deemed too dangerous to own such firearms, even though you have never threatened or hurt anyone (and even though you have licenses and have been screened by the state). Irony of ironies.......

I went on the Badger website and don't see any AK's.......the used rifle section stating only a "coming soon' caption. Hmmm...I'll have to give them a call. $650 is a bit much for a safe queen though.:(

From the RCMP website:

The firearm of the design commonly known as the AK-47 rifle, and any variant or modified version of it except for the Valmet Hunter, the Valmet Hunter Auto and the Valmet M78 rifles, but including the: ...

So it's the named and unnamed variants. Basically, if you can take a part from an AK on the list (bolt, hammer, etc.), and use it on a listed AK, it is a variant and therefore prohibited (at least this is how I figure the RCMP does it... may be wrong though).

Thanx for the info...

What's really ironic, is the fact that from 50ft the average civilian would be hard pressed to differentiate between an AK-variant and a CZ858...
