Norinco cq a 5.56

To get back to the OP's original question; Here is my 0.02¢

I do not own a Norc anything. I always told myself that I would never buy any of that Chinese garbage.
Now with that said; here is a little history on me.
I have worked as a quality inspector for a machine shop for 11 years. Because of this I find that I will pick apart just about any product I buy for quality issues.
My Brother-in-law picked up one of these rifles and all I can say is WOW!
I picked the crap out of this rifle. The fit, finish, general appearance, etc... really shocked me.
Then I shot it.
3 shots at 50 yards - iron sights - quarter size group.
Would I buy one? A great big YES. It is on my list of the next toy to buy. If it wasn't for a lack of funds I would have picked one up during a trip to Epp's this weekend.

Moral of the story.
Price=Win
Quality=Win
Accuracy=Win

Welcome to the M4orgery club!!:dancingbanana:

I have to agree based on mine, zero malfunctions of any type, it will shoot thats for sure, and everything feels right as in Mag changes, hold open device release. It feels right to me and my son who shoots the C7A2 at work thinks its good as well.:agree:
Again, only time will tell what its really got for material and the resulting wear factor. I don't shoot alot so it probaly won't matter ,unless its all mild steel LOL!!:(
Maybe somone with a really high round count and abuse can give us an update as to overall wear on the Nork M4orgery or as i call it my C-8, being a canadian.:canadaFlag:

P.S. I had tighter groups at 50 than a quarter from my bench rest with aperture sights, however remember this does not translate into corresponding MOA at 200-300meters

These close range group tests i feel give deceiving MOA claims. Five, 100 yd 5 shot groups, fired as fast as accuracy will allow would be minimum for an AR in my mind.

Mine jams every shot from the day I bought it. It has never once cycled. Short strokes. In fact I'm not sure the bolt carrier groupe even moves on firing. Yes it's clean.

Pull the charging handle a few times to feel for any 'speed bumps'.

The bolt should cycle smooth with no catches.

Next, pull the charging T-handle and lock the bolt open.

Take a look at the face of the bolt to make sure the spring loaded bullet catch is facing the opening. If the bolt internals are assembled wrong, the bullet will try to eject into the upper instead of out the port.

While the bolt is back, try and move the bullet catch. If it does not move, the bolt will need to be disassembled.

Watch the YouTube video first. It comes apart easy.

Otherwise, contact your point of sale and ask for an exchange.
Keep us posted.

Well here is my Norc M4 experience. I got it and was impressed with the rifle for the price. The only hates I had on it were the grip and the charging handle. I swaped out the grip for a magpul MOE and put on a magpul CTR because I'm a slut like that. I have a new charging handle with a oversized latch (great for optics) as well as a new trigger guard on the way. I'm also only planning on running optics and as I can't stand the slight distortion the front sight causes I cut it off with a dremel. I may also instal a freee floating front handguard on it at some point, but I'm holding back because I heard the barrel nut is impossible to remove.

So how does it shoot? I had 180 rounds of factory .223 in my basement. Scoped and sitting in a rest, 5 round groups at 100 yards, I found the factory ammo shot consistant groups from 2MOA (hornady v-max) to 3MOA (remington umc). About what I expected of this rifle accuracy wise, not great but decent. Then I worked up handloads. All handloads shot between 1.5 MOA and 2 MOA and the best load I found was a 68 grain hornaday BTHP match over 25 grains of varget. This lod shoots consistant 5 round groups at 100 yards that are 1" to 1.5". 5 round groups at 200 yards were all under 3" with this load. With handloads this is a 1.5 MOA or better gun, great for a $700 AR.

I've put 250 rounds through it at two seperate range trips, cleaned it twice. It's great and hasn't failed to fire or jammed once. The only issue is sometimes the bolt does not hold open with the cheap chinese mags. Not an issue with PMAGs. I love it and am going to try out service rifle with it this year.

Here is a pic, I'm getting new optics but haven't decided what yet. I pilliaged this scope off a hunting rifle so it needs to go back.

Nice looking Rifle.:)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Got to say it is one huge resource to have an online groupe like this. I bought the rifle new from Milarm. I don't think they will help but I will give them a call today anyway. I say this because Marstar claims that there is no waranty on norinco and that only Marstar offers any waranty on notinco products. I never thought of the dust cover trick but I will try it. The bolt moves smoth. NOW. The first few shots (bolt action) were stressing because not only was it not cycling but the bolt catch was working very odd. Somtimes not engaging on an empty mag. Other times not disengaging when I pressed on it. I drop of oil in the bolt catch channel contacting the bolt catch solved that. No odd feel however to the bolt travel. Certainly not as smooth as the Colts I owned in the past but smooth enough that I cant see there being a problem from friction. It is as smooth as other Norinco ar's that I held.

Thanks

Gotta be a problem with the gas system

If you bought it new and the retailer won't help, that is a problem. Please let us know about that. I would definitely stay away from a retailer like that.

Called Milarm today about it and they said get an att and bring it in that they would look at it. After they did some test firings and part swaps they determined that the bolt carrier was not drilled for the gas from the carrier key. They swapped out the carrier and ran 3 rds without problems after that. Milarm came through for me and that kind of customer care goes a long way with me. So there it is ... Gas Blockage at the carrier.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

How do you find the lock up on the CTR stock? Is it really good and solid? I am considering various options and the CTR seems like the lowest cost to get what I want.

I just installed a CTR stock on mine, and it locks up tighter than a nun's.... well, it's tight ;)

Very tight. Almost a bit too tight as it's actually pretty tough to rapidy move the stock's position in the unlock mode. I don't change stock length often though so it works perfect for me. The Norc has a commercial buffer tube.

Cam, you can get a free float rail that doesn't require removal of the barrel nut - Daniel Defence's Omega, the Troy bolt-on and the Midwest bolt on rails only need the Delta ring removed.

That's good news! Next on the list though is a new optic as my girlfriend is going to be mad if I don't return the scope to "her" rifle in a timely manner. I'm thinking a 1-4 and am looking at the Viper PST. I have the money for the Millet DMS now but will probably have to save up for the PST. Do you guys think the PSt will be worth the wait?

I'm glad it worked out with you, Moe. Oh, and it was actually the key that wasn't drilled out properly. ;)

Did you get out and test it that night? I hope it ran well with the new bolt/carrier assembly.

i would buy the Norinco CQ A any day of the week over the vz58. but i would buy both if i had the money espically the 7.5" bb
