Norinco cq-a 5.56x45

I use them for my basic carbine course. I have seven of them and I haven't had any issues with any of them. They are great starter gun. I bought mine through Marstar, a sit sponsor.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to pm or email.

I have one, no issues at all. I've ordered the M16 style one as well with a 20 inch barrel, hoping that will turn out good too.

You'll have enough money left over to buy a crate of ammo and then get real good shooting the Norinco. At that point, you can consider moving up to another brand. Honestly, I have had no malfunctions so far at CQB (knocking on wood) this summer with my Norinco CQ, and have watched many others with higher priced hardware have issues. Could have been the ammo or mags. YMMV. At a Service Rifle clinic, I put a Redfield 3x9 on it and was hitting the targets very well out to 500 yards, but that was probably great instruction from Tim!

The gun is of higher quality than the surplus 5.56 ammo

I don't regret buying mine when they first came on sale and were the cheapest by a mile. It'd be a harder choice today.

But of course that opinion has now been tainted by a season with AR rifles and getting a better idea of what I like and want to have going forward. So buying as cheap a one as you can for a starter rifle makes sense in that regard. In that case don't waste money on upgrades that you don't necessarily need. They might not be what you end up wanting on your next rifle

mine runs like a top. I've put 800 rounds through mine, plus it had between 2-3k of ammo through it before I got it. No stoppages for me. Plus it shoots the Winchester white box 45gr ammo awesomely. I can put 5 rounds into 1.2 inches at 100 yards regularly. (leupold 3-9x40 on top) They are just great little guns. Plus you can get the 14.5" barrel , unlike the USA made ones that are 16" or more due to the short barrelled gun regulations the usa has.

I have owned a couple of them and I can say that I never saw one of them jam and they were way more accurate that any rifle that price should be. Nothing wrong with them. They aren't necessarily pretty, but it's a black rifle - who cares?

I picked mine up from Marstar back in march, I haven't had too many issues with just the occasional failure to feed when I ran it the other week I had about 3% FTF, rounds were fine when I ejected them and fed fine through the next mag. Knowing what I know now, i don't know if I would have bought a norinco as the price of AR's has come way down in the past couple of months, you can almost get a DPMS Oracle or a couple of months ago irguns was selling a bushmaster for about 50-100 more than the norinco. If only I had waited lo, but that's the case with everything not just firearms, the more you wait, the less chance you'll actually purchase something.

Just keep in mind that's it not mil spec and if you want to swap out the handguard or other things, you might have to file or make modifications for accessories to fit. Personally I'd spend the extra 50-100 for something that i wouldn't have to modify a brand new handguard just to fit for example. I wanted to put a different dust cover on mine only to find out that the stock one isn't really removable.

But overall I'm quite pleased with the CQ-A 14.5 and the price I paid for it back in March, I really can't complain. And it goes bang when I pull the trigger 97% of the time.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it but Civil Advantage has a death review of his Chinese AR. His upper was toast after 14,000 rounds. So for a inexpensive Chinese made AR that probably uses MSG as an alloying element, that's pretty damn good.

When I took MY firearms Course. All the weapons they supplies were broken Norincos. No need to Decomp them just remove the firing pins, Yup THEY are JUNK.

We have run them on our range since opening (4 years now). They are relatively reliable and you should get more than 10,000rds though one before you need to replace anything other than a trigger or hammer pin. Our range guns have about 60,000rds through them now and have seen some major components replaced (barrels, bolts etc). They are good entry level guns however you may have problems upgrading them as not all accessories etc will fit without some filing and grinding.
