Ah that explains it. What exactly is a Communist? Do you know. There are folks in the US that would claim you are a Communist living in a Communist country. Hell there are folks on this board that probably think we are. LOL China has a stock exchange, modern cities, a vibrant manufacturing industry, and a thriving middle class. It has a one party political system which is sooooo much different than ours. Doesn't sound to me like China is all that much different than the US and Canada. The country is not run by a dictatorship so what exactly is your point?

ps I am typing this on a laptop made in China , I am wearing a T Short made in China. My Nike shoes I have on are made in China. My socks were made in China and the sweat pants I am wearing were made in China so please withhold any war with them for a few more years. OK

Okay dictatorships I get but the only reason communists are 'the enemy' is because of 100 years of propaganda, political and economic warfare and, oh yeah, the failings of human nature.
If you think you're still living in 'the land of the free', see what happens when you stop toeing the line. Any country that lets it's old, infirm, and sick slip through the cracks like yours does could learn a little from the likes of China. Their human rights record is horrible, but having a billion people and going from one of the least economically (we'll leave socially alone for now) developed countries with some of the harshest physical terrain, to arguably the most economically powerful country in the world, might require the trampling of some backs.
It's not like they had any help getting where they are, since people have been testing them like 'the enemy' since the time of the Mongol hordes.
Theirs can only get better; yours, and ours, will only get worse.

As for the norglock, my impression of Chinese steel is that it's really good when they want it to be. They're using the best Canadian coal to get the temperatures right, and good temperatures = good steel.

Well I have not gone bankrupt five times. I am not under investigation for colluding with a foreign power. I am not under investigation for money laundering nor are members of my family. I am not subject subject to thousands of lawsuits. I have not defrauded people out of thousands of dollars on a fake University scam. Oh and I don't have a reputation of being a serial liar. I guess that just makes me Joe average. Pity your President, who has a difficult time stringing two coherent sentences together can't claim the same thing. You know I am ok with that.
You know it would sound so much better if someone outside the US claimed your country was the greatest on Earth...but nobody does. anymore. Just Americans. Your country has more sovereign debt than the rest of the world combined. I guess that makes you number one in something that matters. Not much else I am afraid. You once were the leader of the free world. Now you put forth a motion in the Security Council of the UN and it gets voted down 14 -1 by your former allies. You might want to think on that my friend.

Exactly how is a one party political system without universal suffrage not a dictatorship? As a matter of fact this is totally different from Canada which has a parliamentary democracy as well as the two party system in the US.
Having stock exchanges, modern cities, and manufacturing only make them a capitalist country but that does not translate to democracy which both Canada and US have.
Glock should have "farmed out" production of earlier generations of their products years ago to other companies. Lots of people would still want the newest and shiniest, but they could have continued to generate income from earlier generations by getting a licensing fee for the earlier tech sold at much lower prices.

FYI, Americans know it is the best country on Earth because they have lived here. It is hard to picture how much better America is without actually living here. I loved America before I moved but it was still hard to fathom how much better it was than Canada.

Good point but you could argue both countries have one political system run by two identical parties which really is not much different. Did your life change when Trudeau took over from Harper. There is another post on this thread worth reading.
