Norinco handguns

hit or miss sums it up. I have had mostly good luck. I know others who haven't and are now haters. first rule on any new norinco - disassemble completely clean reassemble. tweak as necessary. For a first pistol I'd suggest an nz85. If you can find one.

norinco: the gateway gun

I bought one of the CanadaAmmo 1911a1 combos. I was totally stoked, first 1911, and I was going to HAVE to take it all down, deburred, and tweak with things right out of the box!

Then it arrives. I pull it out of the box, and surprisingly don't lose any fingers because of razor sharp edges. The machining is decent (nothing bad enough to need fixing, and mostly what you wouldn't notice unless you were being critical. The whole friggin gun is deburred. The finish is a little uneven, but not horrible. The bushing to slide fit is PERFECT, and barrel to bushing is a little loose, but is not unshootable. The staked front sight is on about a 10 degree cant to the right. Take it to the range, and it shoots about 4 inches at 15 yards, 5" at 20 and 6-7" at 25. Easily worth $400 with a free case of ammo.

I picked up a used np29 and am really impressed with the fit and finish, mind you i only paid $300 for it off a fellow cgn'er... Got two sets of grips with it. I wanted an inexpensive 1911 to fiddle with and at this price I won't feel bad about experimenting, or putting an idiot scratch on it lol. I haven't shot it yet( bought 6months ago) long overdo, I'll try to take it out soon and post a report.

I owned & shoot lots of handguns , HKs , Sigs, Walthers , etc..
Currently I have two Norincos : 1911 in chrome from Canada Ammo and M93-.22LR . Very , Very good guns . And , by the way , after lots of affairs I finally met my truly love -
Taurus PT809 . Never expected be so happy with such gun .

I got my .45 from Marstar when I bought my Norc .223 as part of that $200 special they had. (Overall happy with the .223, actually - the sights in the carrying handle suck; should've saved money and got a flat-top because I need a scope now, anyways). But I digress. I only got the .45 because it was so cheap. Outside appearance seems good to me - doesn't look much different than any other black 1911 clone. The inside - the machining is good; nothing fancy. Took it out and holy crap. The thing shoots mint. Nice sights, and damn! The thing feels amazing and fits my hand perfectly, better than my 9mm. The only complaint I have is taking it down to clean it. Those 1911-style pistols what a major PITA. I need to get a 2-piece guide rod but I'm having a hard time finding one in Canada for the 4 1/2 (?)" barrel.

The only complaint I had about the Norc 1911 clones were that I thought the magazines sucked really bad. Lousy spring, cheap metal. I bought a couple of Browning mags, and that made all the difference.

Got two... 1911 commander, and np-22.. Really love them both....cannot find any reason to diss norinco. Yes theyre aimed at the price conscience, the 1911 is a little rough round the edges..( I could fix this, can't be arssed ) but my latest version np-22 is very hard to find fault with..really..I know...try a norc if you have a few bucks to spare, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Norinco 1911's

I've owned a few different Norc 1911's.... and still have a few.... Personally, I've never had a lemon yet.

NAA.

That SIG copy that shot all over the place had the loosest feeling barrel ever. Gave the barrel a shake with the slide open and it was soooo obvious! If it says "Made in China"-beware.

I wonder if they could have put the wrong barrel bushing on it? Perhaps the 40cal instead of the 9mm?

Each generation of guns they make get better. The latest copy of the sigs is nice...

I am eyeing both the CZ and Sig clones, in 9x19. What issues of availability are there? Are the parts (including aftermarket grips) compatible with CZs and Sigs? Oh, also:

Like most things Norc, quality control is hit and miss... Some are GREAT, and shoot well. Others are not and have issues.

Buying the pistol is the least of your costs... You'l go through more $ in ammo in a few months than the difference in cost between a Norc and a more reputable manufacturer.

If you must by Norc I suggest you buy three, keep the best, and sell the other two!

Get a Np29. Super solid and the one I bought factory for $279 had as good a trigger as my $1300 SIG 1911. No joke.

For the money u can't beat them. Tons of room for upgrade and customization

Cheers
