Norinco JW-20 - Unbelievable price!!

One of my JW20-s also had a seized take down lever. I guess, $125.00 can't cover quality material and quality control. :d
I took the rifle apart and sanded the locking slide and the tip of the plunger with #400 paper. Also, I cut off one coil of the barrel lock spring to lower the tension and oiled the parts well before putting them back together. Now I can move the lock without using a sledge hammer. It's still stiff but much better.

I just painted the scroll with gold metallic paint. It was much faster and easier than I anticipated. Fun project. :)

Did you just paint inside the scroll work then wipe off any "misses" while it was still wet? I have an old shotgun I'd like to restore and this is a really cool idea

Yes, I degreased the receiver and simply smeared the paint over the inlay. Then I wiped off the excess with a damp paper towel before the paint dried (less than 10 minutes).
I used PLAID brand Metallic Acrylic Paint (Antique Gold #658) that I bought at Walmart at the arts/crafts section. A 2 fl oz bottle was $2.99. :)
I forgot to put a piece of tape over the serial number, so it took me some extra time to remove the paint from there. Otherwise, easy and fast.

Anyone else have this problem? When I operate the takedown switch (slide it towards the muzzle) It goes so far forward that it goes past the detent and the ball and spring pop out

Yes, I have the same problem with one of my rifles. It is because the fore end cutout (where the slide goes) is too deep. My solution is to drill a small hole in the wood, put a small screw in it, adjust the screw until it stops the slide at the right distance and then epoxy all over the screw so it wouldn't move. (Sand and paint after.)
