Norinco JW15 -- Progressive review

I'm so happy with mine that I'm thinking about the short one for putting a scope on to shoot our scope class with. After tuning up the iron sights, the 24" shoots better than I do!

nice thread, i just picked upa Norch from my mates parents who are moving away soon, jw15 with 4x40 nikko....
the bolt an firing pin was basically gummed up hard with grease from no use over 20 years id say ha ha, ive freed it up a bit, took the scope off also, also found the sights thin to look though and look forward to shooting it tomorow.

I plan on using this one to teach the younger fellas i got kickin around to do some cheap plinking, and some rabbit shootn, now the Son or kid can use a gun and i can also! which should make afternoons walking around the black berries a bit more enjoyable !!

got a whole bunch 400 odd power points too, should see me a while!
good info in here an thanks for posting.

I owned three; the first two had bent barrels and both shot about a foot left at 20 yards, not enough dovetail to drift the sights. Dealer took my word for it and gave me an over the counter exchange; it was no better. The dealer got me in touch with the distributor, who put me in direct contact with their gunsmith. I sent him the rifle, and he agreed with me; bent barrel. They sent me one with a test target that was amazing but rough and tight. The gunsmith told me he tried 7 rifles out of their stock before he found one that was not bent. It was a bad lot.

I have since upgraded to a very pretty Brno no. 2. It shoots no better, but is finished a whole lot nicer.

They are good rifles if you get a good one, and you will never wear out your JW.

Interesting. I wonder if the bent barrel issues resulted in them being recycled into the 13" version that came later.
