i have a habit of breaking things like that haha, seems like the simple procedure of field stripping and cleaning is made much harder due to this problem.
If you happen to be in the Lower mainland B.C. I would be happy to show you how......

Would unscrewing the ring the gas plug screws into give you enough room to get it out ?
ah i think i understand now, that makes sense! now to go give it a try!
i got it out , just had to rotate the gas lock ring out after taking out the plug then the piston will slide out. Thanks for the help boys.
Good question. I think I'll just grind the lug off mine when it gets here.
My other shorty has a gas lock front sight so this has never been an issue before.
What's worse is the gas plug interferes with the bayonet. The bayonet contacts the gas plug and the bayo ring is still 1/4" from the flash hider, so the lug is useless anyway. Now what the hell am I going to do if the zombies come. I'm too old and fat to go hand to hand

If you read the post above you, you can see I was going to mount the bayo on my other M305. But I have to admit that as much as I like them, my true love is my Armalite AR10

Just grind the bayonet down.. Drill a relief hole in it...
