Norinco M4 CQ5.56 Reliability - You Decide

Over 200rds, the bolt is still 'clean', bore bright, no gunk anywhere. Just going to keep shooting until it stops. Not using oil for lube, Synthetic grease is my choice.

Synthetic grease work very well , I have over 800 rounds and never cleaned anything beside the bore and chamber. not a single failure.
My AR best buy was the JP bore guide with the Sinclair link. Makes Range bench cleaning a charm

all I did was the 15-minute trigger job that comes up as the first result in google. Yeah yeah, cutting, bending springs no no. I'm not killing anything but paper with it. I also used a lot of AUTOSOL metal polish on the sear, trigger, hammer contacts. And dry fired alot.

I do have a few sets of dpms spring and pin kits in case the norc fails. but so far, no issues.

difference is night an day.

Dont ask me I am just a noob who dont listen to others :D

Now that I think of it. I don't have a single drop of oil anywhere on my AR. when I did that build, Ive put grease everywhere. I thought this would ease maintenance , so far so good

I'll know more when I hit 500+rds but right now, the soot can just be wiped off with the grease with nothing sticking to the bolt/carrier. I don't see any signs of carbon crud build up anywhere but maybe its just because I have just shot over 200rds?????

I don't consider a quick wipe with a towel and reapplication of grease cleaning an AR. No cleaning in the chamber and barrel yet. Cases came out really clean last night. Bore looks like it has not been fired.

Time will tell...

SO did you ever get the cross pins out of the front sight? I have a free floating hand guard that is begging to be installed but I can not for the life of me get these cross pins out. I have it mounted in a barrel vice and am giving it all I got with a hammer and punch and they will not budge. If I go any harder on those pins I am just gunna rune something.

MP, I have bent the pin punch I was using so that isn't going to work.

Now I am going to move up to a more solid punch and give it a hammer. I am supporting under the sight and barrel so as not to risk bending anything.

Those cross pins are in there tight.

worst case, I will drill them out and get replacement pins down the road if I ever need to put the orig sight back on - don't see why I would need the orig sight.

There is also an itty bitty cross pin where the gas tube likely ends. Have never seen this on any other AR. Wonder what that is for?

They may be tapered pins. Try removing from other direction and see what happens.

Got mine day before yesterday. Took it to the range yesterday (also happened to be my BDAY) put 60 rounds through with 0 issues. Now to get an elcan or eotech...

I fondled my first Norinco M4 today ... it's a nice gun! It's a lot slimmer in profile than I thought it would be, and the magazines (LAR15) are like tin metal with poorly moulded plastic followers (couldn't tell from photos, I thought they would be more substantial feeling).

The peep sight is interesting ...

I wonder if the LAR15s come in polymer or different quality? I guess time will tell how reliable they are.

Took my new M4 to the rnage and shot some groups at 300 yards. Off sandbags with a 7X scope.

It could have used a more powerful scope and it really needs a better trigger. But IVI military ball shot 5.7" (just under 2 minutes). I was pleased. I have a float tube on orer from Brownell's and a RockRiver match trigger. Look forward trying this test again.

Also Chronied some ammo. IVI (62 gr) is 2850 fps. Winchester white box 55 gr 3000 fps. My handloaded 55 FMJ as mild as 2325 fps still ejected and loaded just fine. For CBQ I load 24gr of 3031 at 2625 fps. Does not need to be hot to shoot 25 yards .....

M4 loud

I have to agree on the loud. Took my defenders of to see what that 30,000 psi plus muzzle blast sounded like in that short barrel and yes my left ear rang for quite some time. Its not the quantity of the report its the intensity. I agree with everyone on the lousy trigger pull and hope it will clean up. I know just dry firing the safety(LOL) a hundred times or more cleaned it right up! All in all, i like the rifle. Only put 55gr AE threw it yet though.

I'm pretty impressed with mine, purchased last year.

I didn't know my club (Oshawa Skeet & Gun) had a gong at 300 yards. I decided to give it a try with iron sights for kicks. I don't know how big the gong is. Couldn't see gong with iron sights (bush was blocking it) but after a bunch of tries I found the right spot. Before I knew it, I only had 6 rds of my reloads left. 3 of 6 landed. :)

I'm actually amazed b/c I'm a noob and I never tried that far. I do about 1 MOA at 50 yards.

A friend of mine just picked one of these up. Had it out at the range today. I only got to shoot it at 25 yards, from a bench rest with the original iron sights. My friend shot a few rounds before I got it and it was pulling just a little bit right. Without making any adjustments I fired 5 rounds. 3 of them were on top of each other, the other 2 very close. My thumb covered up all of the rounds on target. Yes the trigger could use some work but the gun functioned as advertised, one heck of a deal at 700.00.
