they are in the exact same price range:
Norinco M4
and
CZ 858
which one would be the better buy?
what are your thoughts?
advantage , disadvantage..
I like both, but can't decide.
don't tell to buy two of each or my #### will fall off.:D
(eventually I will have one of each I am sure, but for now)

for $1400 buy both, buy the non restricted 858 so you have more options to take it out.

If forced to choose I would buy the 858.
Pros.
-Unrestricted
-"Beefier" round
-Cheaper ammo
-Not banned from the States.
-FREE BAYONET!!!!!!!!!!111111111111

Cons.
-Older ergonomics
-Cheaper ammo is corrosive and non-reloadable.
-Bulkier compared to M4
-Less options for sights and other "attachments" (Not enough rail.)

I have both and I use the 858 much, much more.
.223 is also a pain to reload vs straightwall handguns.

M4
Pros:
-Versatility
-Wide variety of aftermarket parts
-10 round RRA pistol mags

Cons:
-Restricted
-Can't bring it into the U.S., unlike American made AR15's

CZ 858
Pros:
-Cheap ammo
-Non-restricted

Cons:
-Not as many aftermarket parts available (although this is changing)
-Not an AR15

IMHO, go with the 858. You'll be able to send way more rounds down range with it and you aren't stuck at your gun club.

It depends on how much money you have and how much you want to shoot.

There's no more affordable rifle to shoot these days than one chambered in 7.62x39.

thanks guys for your great input...

restricted doesn't really matter to me.

7.62x39 is cheap but corrosive...

223 shouldn't really be a problem, because I am reloading and brass is plentyful for free...

Looks like you have your mind made up then.

I just roughly figured out the cost of what it would be for me to reload .223 assuming free brass. For the most part it is. Comes out to roughly 28 cents a round. Not as cheap as Czech 7.62x39mm but a lot cheaper than factory ammo.

Reloading for an Ar gets tiring fast.
There is not the same satisfaction as a finely rolled 308 or greater for an accuracy bolt gun. Ammo can still be had for 50+ cents, so the financial imptetus is also somewhat iffy. If you enjoy reloading then go nuts.

I have had both.

I really liked the M4 but:

- It's complex (compared to a 858), gets dirty and wasn't as well made .
- Ammo is still fairly expensive.
- It's restricted.

The 858 comes fully equiped with 4 mags, bayo, etc. It's not restricted, so I can take it where I want. You can also hunt with it.

Lastly, 1120 round cases are $170, need I say more?

Have both also...

really depends what you want I guess.... both a ton of fun, ammo cost and intended use (rest, vs non) really should be your deciding factors

I have to vote for get both, I started out with the M4, and I love it.... but I just couldn't shake the 7.62x39 shorty, with a banana mag bug :D

The CZ is the way to go in my opinion. Cheaper ammo and you can hunt big game with it. I shot a deer with mine last year and it was just plain fun to carry something that "tacticool" in the bush. Wish more people saw me with it though. Love the looks I got.

Yep, go with the CZ... i sold my AR15 upper to purchase a CZ858.
To palliate with corrosive ammo, i've sent mine to Rauch Tactical for the nitro-carbon coating.
Plenty of accessories are now available.

As for the Norc M4... well... i'm also getting one from Marstar... couldn't resist.
Ok, so get both :)

I have both guns and I would say 858 for sure. Who the F&*k cares if it is corrosive or not. Cleanit proper and you will have no problem. What you are gonna spend $350-450 for 223 when you can buy 1200 rounds of 7.62 mil for 180$?????????? nORC IS VERY NICE and I do love it, but you cant beat reliability, accuracy and over all excellent craftsmanship of the CZ. if you what pics ask and you shall recieve.

The ammo being corrosive primed is a non-issue. To me anyways.

This is correct. I have no problems with the corrosive primers. I clean my firearm the day I get home. No special tricks just normally and works amazing.
Put 110 rounds through last night. Didn't lose any sleep over the cost either
