Norinco M4

buis and scope ideas

I am looking for ideas and recommendations from you guys for a buis and scope for my CQ M4.

I would like to take off the carrying handle and put on a rear sight on the rail and also put a 3x9 or similar scope for long range.

Any ideas for the set to be able to use the rear sight and also to have a scope at the same time? BUIS, riser, rings scope etc?

Thanks for the great help you guys give.

Thank you for the very informative lessons on the two and single point slings. I like the Vtac sling the best. Seems more stable.

Do I need that special tool to take off the forends on my M4? Can I make do without and not cause damage? Has anyone made their own forend removal tool?

Put buttstock on flat surface. Use a C grasp with your hand and pull down on the slip ring. Remove handguards. No tools required.

Ya. I ended up putting two peices of steel in a vise and then pressed the rifle forward to get the forends off. Gad.That is one powerful spring in there. Even my son-in law couldn't hold the ring back long enough and he's a strong guy. Oh well. Done now.

I got the rail that attaches to the forend through the existing holes on the handguard. Probably not the strongest rail mounting, but it's only holding a strobe/laser. My bipod will mount on the beyonet lug which seems pretty solid. The reflex sight goes on top of the handle on a mount that I also ordered specifically for the handle. The reflex sight is very low profile so I don't think there will be a problem with the cheek weld.

They are $895 plus tax Canadian... but the finish on them is really bad.... if that wont bother you then it is a reliable gun from what i have heard. I personally will spend the extra money and get a DPMS or Bushmaster... or Imperial for that matter. The finish on all of them is much much nicer.

That's funny. The finnish on my new M4 is great. No paint

Denn0001,
I do not want to be mean, but alot of these questions you have asked can be easily found just by using a simple google search, and if you want to get into the details, you should carefully go read up m4carbine.net or even ar15.com..., just my 2 cents.

I had the chance to look and handle the CQ5.56(M4) today. To be honest, the finish on the rifle is not as bad as the ones in some of the photos. Upper, lower and barrel all seem to be as good as MP15 (sure it isn't an COLT, but the price is right!), only 2 parts I can see that are not so great (but acceptable if you are not picky): 1)the ejection port cover; 2) the carrying handle. IMO, both of these parts can be easily repainted if needed.

All the stuff I found on the net was sales for forends but very little instruction on how to replace them. None of them told me it would take two strong men and a tractor to pull back that retaining ring. A lot of those forums take a long time to go through to find what you want. I will bookmark the sites you suggested for further reference. I thought asking you guys would give me a fast answer. :(

If you go to the bushmaster web site you can download an owners manual..it may have more detail than the Norinco one...Mine should be here tomorrow :dancingbanana:

Hey if I had a 7000.00 dollar tax refund like you have I would be shopping for a custom rifle or two..but some of us need money for more guns and ammo and accessories and the list goes on.. ....

I haven't seen one with what I'd call 'bad' finish and I got to sort through all of the ones my dealer had. Also the finish matches my Armalite perfectly. I think the concern with finish was limited to some of the parts, such as the sight protectors and the attachment knobs for the carry handle Personally the only finish I really care about is the finish on the receiver halves and barrel and the gas block. Those are just fine.
