Norinco M4

Try looking at the target instead of the front sight tower. Use both eyes. If you look at most of the optics mounted on AR's you will notice that they are almost all mounted in line with the front sight tower.

I guess the question to ask is
"WHAT RED DOT DID YOU TRY AND MOUNT?"

the reason I ask is because some of the cheaper ones like the kobra and such may not be set up to cowitness like an aimpoint or eotech...... I would be wary of cheap reddots, but I did have a "fakepoint" ML2 with the fake chinese "ARMS" mount that worked well before I upgraded to the real thing.

No problems at all with the Norinco M4. Just trying to get my cheap reflex site to work. Should've spent more for a good sight. Live and learn.

I should have gone with a better reflex sight. Otherwise the M4 is just peachy.

I managed to play with the Millett DMS on my Norc today, very easy to use both as a scope and as a sight. I didn't lose zero between power settings, and the mount (Armalite) held zero when removed and replaced. Heavy but fun, and the price is very fair. The only thing I didn't like was the very mushy turret adjustments, they don't click they sort of slime, not good at all, but since it holds zero nicely, and cost $300 it's not a deal breaker.

Got pics? I am thinking of a similar set-up.

Picked up AR15 handle scope mount rail $20 and 4x32 mildot compact scope $81 from MarStar, works great on the M4.

Do you have any problems with the quick release mechanism on the scope. I bought a laser/flashlight (NcStar) and it wiggles a bit on the foregrip rail.

Should the sling loops go to the side instead of the way they are mounted on the M4? I don't think the existing sling mounts work well with a tactical sling. If so, where do I get side mount sling loops and how do they attach?

Dlask sells a reversible sling plate that replaces the receiver end plate, and Questar lists the RRA side mount sling point for the front sight/gas block, although they say it's special order. Questar also lists a few other options for sling mounts.

I found I have to put a shim under the rear end of my picatinny rail so my reflex sight can be ranged in. I ran out of elevation adjustment with my little docter type reflex sight. Pain in the A**. Oh well, off to Canadian tire to get some shim stock.

This is my first ever black rifle.

I was watching the military channel today, the "Top 10 rifles of all time" and the M16 came in 2nd place. During their bit on the M16 they mentioned how it was very unreliable and jammed up alot in Vietnam until they told the troops how to clean the thing. Given the age of the average trooper they made the instruction manual a COMIC BOOK.

I found this comic book and printed it off....I dont have the gun yet but i may learn something and the historical value has me intrigued too.

Here is the link for the comic

can someone tell me if the BC has a divot on both sides of it for the retaining pin?
Mine does. but all my other AR15 BC's only have it on the one side.

Just reviving a dead thread - anyone who bought the first batch from Lever feel ripped off compared after Marstar released theirs?

Anyone feel the Marstar one's are higher quality?

I got one from the first batch and i don't feel ripped off at all. I figured more would likely come into the country later at a better price. I actually contacted Marstar before I bought the one I have. I asked if or when they might have them for sale. I got a luke-warm vague response and I decided to buy one that was available. Oh well... what's a couple hundred bucks? I spent a lot of time shooting it last year and had a lot of fun with it. If I had waited I would have saved some money but missed out on a years worth of AR shooting.

Higher quality? Function wise...I doubt it. I have had no issues what so ever. So if the new ones function the same I'd say its equal. Finish maybe...but I am not planning on entering my rifle in a beauty pageant anyways. The finish on mine looks good and I have no regrets buying it.
