Norinco Model 1000 Mag fed Semi

If you look at the mags they are the same as standard Colt AR mags. the mag release is a AR mag release.
I'm wondering if a .308 AR mag can be modified to hold the shells. I need to get a mag and check it out.
Geez, that sounds like more hassle than it's worth, doesn't it ? I'm thinking I don't need ( or want ) the Norinco 1000...lol.

For people who want an alternative, I've been looking for either the Weatherby SA 459 TR ( listed @ $699) or the Hatsen ($499) Both are made in Turkey. The reason I like the Hatsen is because I had the pump version and it was cheap, ($350) reliable and kicked like a freakin' mule with 3" magnums. I traded it in on the VZ58 Super Short seen in my avatar....mainly because I wanted a semi-auto shotgun as I'm getting too old and tired to cycle a pump...lol. Yesterday, I found that SFRC has a shipment of Hatsen Optima MP-A TS's coming in a couple of weeks. They are enroute now and as of this morning, there are 11 left for pre-order. Get em fast...because they will all be scooped up soon. They are listed @ $499...which, I think, is a really good price. I've already watched YouTube videos on dis assembly etc and am looking forward to getting it. Too bad we aren't allowed the 2 shot extension's, though.

*Update*
I had this out again today while we were Gopher shooting.

It seems the gun likes to release the mag under recoil and that's a major part in its feeding issues.
I could not shoot more than 2 round in a row before the Mag would drop down far enough to not be able to pick up the next round.
Also the feed angle is wrong. If it wasn't dropping Mags, the round was slamming into the bottom of the feed ramp and jamming.

On a positive note I took 2 gophers with slugs with it. It points nice and is lighter than my DAR22.

I just got one of these as well so it's good to know what to expect.

I plan on taking mine out this weekend to give it a good review so i'll post my expereinces here as well.

It's worth noting that the chokes from my Beretta AL391 (OptimaChoke) seem to thread perfectly in the M1000 but I'll have to fire a few rounds and check to be sure they are no issues.

Let me know how it goes.

what type of screw holds the buttpad on? one of mine is loose and i cannot figure it out? slotted or phillips? seems maybe it is stripped just dont want to ruin the rubber.

Thanks for the ongoing review Innercity.
You're saving me money with every post, lol.
I had two of the DA mag feds, a great idea with too many issues.
How well do the mags retain the shells if agressively shook (simulate rough handling/ running around)?
My DA's would spill them everywhere or stand the first one up (if they would feed- others that would hold the shells wouldn't feed).

I have a Norinco mag fed pump. None of my mags for that one are like you describe ( 1 Norc 2 DA). That shotty has about 2.5K worth of shells through it, all the bugs are worked out.

As for the Semi. I'm in the middle of moving so it will be a couple weeks before I'll get to play with it again. But from my 3 outings with it they are flimsy as fudge.
