Having problems with my new m305 shorty after less than 100 rounds. Failure to feed a bunch of times and the bolt isnt closing all the way and needs to be forced into battery. It is well lubricated with grease but the action still feels like crap. The finish is horrible on this thing too, it looks like someone took a belt sander to the back of it. I love this gun and its great fun to shoot when it works but this is pissing me off. Tried emailing canam to get a replacement or a fix for it but no response after a week. Anyone have any pointers how to fix this thing?

That sounds dangerous. Keep trying CanAm. I have had good experiences with them, maybe your email hit their spam filter? Give them a call. Their phone# is on their website.
 
I remember reading a gunsmithing book a while back that said that something like 90% of the guns the author had come into the shop were fixed by a good cleaning. I'd suggest stripping it down completely and detail cleaning it. Odds are you'll spot the problem, and if the problem's invisible the cleaning will likely fix it.

I did that when I first got it. Its still pretty clean since Ive only put about 100 rounds through it.

OK i was feeling alone. The finish on my rifle is very poor as well. I have seen one from 2007 and was quite impressed my 2012 looks like a reject all edges are very sharp lots of tooling marks the op rod is almost untouchable due to sharp edges is this common?
 
Ok so the gas system is tight. I took the gun apart again and cycled the action without the trigger group installed and it doesn't bind at all. It appears that the bolt is binding on the hammer almost to the point of stopping the bolt mid-cycle. Here is a pic of the wear marks on the hammer:

Interesting pic. Is that grease on the hammer, or a severe case of galling? ...when two sliding metal surfaces dig into each other, simply put....

Maybe the problem is inadequate lubrication?
 
Picture looks fine to me. Go and shoot it like crazy. Hey, what do you expect from a high school shop class for $ 400? An M1A or LRB receiver? :eek: It's a $ 400 blaster!

One thing is for sure, selling them on EE Forum is quite good! Keep us posted on your progress!

So with the trigger group out can you push down on the hammer when its locked n the down position (cocked not released) Should be some play. See, this is why Hungry says to buy two. One can take parts off the other and swap around to help trouble shoot.

I had the same problem with my sks when I 1st got it. Often needed a solid "forward assist" - often on the 1st round, and occasionally when cycling.

Turned out it really just needed to be broken in. After about 2 or 300 rounds, it worked itself out.

My sks does this too, but i dont even have 100 rounds through it.I just figured it was normal.
