So with the trigger group out can you push down on the hammer when its locked n the down position (cocked not released) Should be some play. See, this is why Hungry says to buy two. One can take parts off the other and swap around to help trouble shoot.

I think this is the problem. Is there a stop or something for the hammer that i can modify?

Hmmmm, I have been wanting a full length version!

I had the same problem with my sks when I 1st got it. Often needed a solid "forward assist" - often on the 1st round, and occasionally when cycling.

Turned out it really just needed to be broken in. After about 2 or 300 rounds, it worked itself out.

My sks is a machine, never failed. the only time I had issues is when I tried out a tapco magazine. never again!

Hey Johnny just went downstairs and grabbed a spare trigger group from my will never sell stash.I can manipulate the hammer down close to a 1/16 of a inch before it hits the side of the trigger guard. How far does yours move?. When I do this, my hammer just about bottoms out on the hammer spring housing. See how close yours comes to that. Have you dissassembled your trigger group at all?

This was the problem! Mine was hitting the side and not going down far enough so I filed a small relief under it and its working much better now. while I was at it I polished the groove on the hammer that the bolt rides on and the bottom of the bolt. Not quite where I want it yet but Im gonna shoot the piss out of it and hopefully it gets better after breaking it in some more. Thanks to all for the help!

Right on Sir. Keep you eyes open on ebay for a garand hammer as they interchange. They are all to the proper specs. And are a whole lot easier to find.

Sight is worth is. Do some research on how it all works and goes together before you get it. The rear sight on my Poly seems fine but the Norc 2007 ones suck. Which one do you have?
