Norinco NP-22 -The good, the bad and the ugly?

Wow...that looks nice (with the rosewood)...I wanted to go that route also but as Colin says the grips cost a lot. On a side note...finally got the front sight out (but it won't be going back in). Yeah for Trijicons!!!

I have both the 228 and 226 clones. Both work very well. Nice triggers out of the box.

I bought two pair of Sig sights on Ebay for $11. (2 front and two rear, all differnt heights) The rear is a loose fit. I used some epoxy to hold it in place.

Hogue grips make it nice.

You really don't have much to lose, go ahead purchase on and just shoot the hell out of it, you will be surprised how it performs for a $400 gun. Ignore any Norc bashers if you ever encounter them.

Trijicon sights weren't new...from '08....the mags are a years worth of collecting from shows, etc. When you see a deal you pounce on it. So, to repeat, trijicon sights don't fit the new NP-22. The dovetail is too large on the gun. I was thinking of using red loctite on it (I don't plan on removing the sights)....but what an absolute B^%$ to get off (front sight).

what a pic

that pic gave me a hard-on and reminded me why I want the gun in the first place ( don't judge!)

^^ lucky, while I could have done the same, I just couldnt justify the price. So went el cheapo norinco. No regrets though.

An update: used red loctite on the sights and went to the range. Blew the front sight off after about 50 rounds...upon close examination it appears I didn't didn't use enough as it was only held on by the smallest amount (not complete sight to slide contact). Rear sight was fine. No messing around this time...loctited the crap out of that front sight and no problems after 200 rounds. If it does blow out again I'll post it...

With mine, the original sights were off quite a bit. My son's NP22 was fine. The sights themselves are ok...they work. Nothing wrong with them if they're installed correct.

Interesting, is it too large to peen? Was loctite the only solution? I'm buying one for myself (NP-34 and NP-58 for my dad) and Id like to put a fiber optic on his and the Trijicons on mine... Does anyone have the measurements of the dovetail on the SIG's VS the Norcs?

I think you could peen the back with a dab of loctite...it might work with the front also but that would be a heck of a peen (my Trijicon was quite a loose fit)...

On the other question...both my son/my NP22 are from the latest Marstar batch (got them in Sept/10).
