Norinco NP-22 -The good, the bad and the ugly?

Here's an interesting question...has anyone ever put an SRT kit into a Norc? I know they're not available now and no self respecting Sig armourer would put one into a Norc...but they used to be available a while back...just curious if anyone did and if so...how did it go? Easy, hard, not doable? Inquiring minds want to know...

Here's a further to my question...the SRT kit does fit the NP22. The only thing I noticed was more positive reset (you can feel it). Other than that I haven't really noticed much difference. I do plan on changing out that crazy stiff hammer spring to something not so heavy (maybe that will cure that DA). While it was all apart the other difference I noticed from the P226 was the trigger bar spring is different. Other than that they are identical as far as I could tell (well, the hammer spring setup is slightly different and the grip screws are different also).

how did you remove the front and rear sights? just had mine at the range and its shooting left 24" at 60 yards.

few inches left at 25 yards

Ideally I just want to adjust them as ill be doing the black badge course in june with it. Maybe I should move up to 10 and 7 yards and see how I do......

SIG wood grips

The wife put rosewood on her's

She loves them, and the pistol.
.
Man if your wife can comfortably get her hand around that grip I suggest that you be a very good boy and not ruffle her feathers.

I have the same shaped grips in black from my SIG P-226 Equinox. They are beautiful but much too "fat" for this shooter

I have the Sig sight tool...which only worked on the rear sight. The front sight is pressed in during assembly (when everything is hot and expanded). I had to hammer mine out (and broke it). Didn't care as I was putting new sights in (which aren't a good fit...see above posts for the lowdown).

I'll leave the obvious joke out of this one ;).

These grips are to big for my liking as well (I'm used to a 92 Vertec), but she seems to like them and they work well for her. Now to lighten up the stupid heavy double action pull on this thing...

I improved my P-226 considerably by installing a tune up kit I bought from Gray Guns in the US. There are a selection of main springs in that kit, a lighter sear spring and probably most important, a titanium trigger block. The springs would logically do OK on your Nork but I'm not sure about the trigger block as that is a very precise but tiny piece. I think the biggest contributor to lightening the DA was changing out the main spring which would be the first thing I would try.

Take a look at the kit and you will see the parts that Gray would change out. They are the best SIG smiths around.

I'm really confused about my feedramp/chamber I've never seen one like this before. it looks as though they ground the feed ramp then ground out a channel near the chamber and it seems to actually cut into the chamber slightly.

Does anyone else have this?

Update on the NP22 front sight...it blew off again. This time I noticed it occurred during rapid firing (previously I was just slow, steady working on proper grip). It seems the barrel heats up and the loctite releases...looks like I might need high heat loctite...I believe it's Loctite 620...that'll be my next attempt at keeping the sight on.

well I did some double action only shooting in preparation for black badge and it turns out ill be in trouble drawing from the holster and getting that 1st double action shot on target in time... the DA trigger pull is heavy and throws me off target when trying to acquire it quickly

going slower and standing its just fine in DA only (de-cocking after each shot) at 15 yards though:

^^^ my best group (1" grid paper), several other targets were not as good

I took my Black Badge with a SIG X-five DA/SA which has a very good trigger. However I didn't have a lot of experience with the gun at that time. My DA first shots were always not as accurate as the SA ones that followed. You will pay a price for misses particularly in the more advanced exercises like the El Presidente. Rushing the shots will kill you if accuracy suffers too much so get your hits and make speed secondary and you should get through. One of the things I didn't account for is the stress involved as the exercises become more difficult and you get tired as most do towards the end of the day. Get good rest before the course starts and after the first and second day depending on how you are scheduled. Do your self a favour and wear good shoes as you are on your feet for a lot of the time and moving. I found the course one of the more exciting and rewarding things I have done. Have a good time!
