Norinco NR-15 Bolt-Action 22LR New Arrival

I just picked up a JW-15 shorty. It's pretty terrible. The bolt is hard to insert, trigger is awful, and the rear sight is so loose I removed it with my fingers. It's been a couple decades since my last Norinco, so I had forgotten about that wonderful oil they cover everything with.

I think this will keep me from buying another Norinco for a couple more decades.
I have bought several Norinco rimfire rifles over the years. JW-20s, NS522s (when c anadaammo was still active), EM332a/x and they were all "workable". I still own some of them.

But then I thought I'll try the JW-15 as being told by "online experts" it's a CZ/BRNO derivate. Mea Culpa, I admit !

Low and behold it was the biggest POS rimfire rifle, hands down, I've ever seen/handled in my life. Maybe I had a complete dud. Dunno.

However, I returned it to the retailer for a refund and tried out something more descent for only $50,- more...

i think it is pretty clear over the years that these are project guns; don't buy a Nork and expect a CZ; you will be sorely disappointed.

I had one of these years ago, and it was amazing, i sold it and missed it, so I bought another with the sale. They certainly aren't made like they used to be.

I just had it out to the range this weekend, and here is what I found.

The edge of the chamber looks like it was reamed out with a screwdriver.

The magazine is hot garbage, the only positive engagement from the lips is on the rim of the case, so about twice per 9 round mag I would have a double feed caused by the top round going vertical, and the next round popping forward/out towards the chamber.

I cleaned it before I went, but obvisouly not thorough enough, and had about one FTE per mag (bring a pocket knife).

The bolt was stiff to get into battery, after a comple disassembly and iso bath, it runs a lot smoother now. Hopefully this solves the FTE problem as well.

It is very accurate, and a handy package.

I look forward to polishing up the action, and putting some sort of optic on it.

Overall, for what it is, a $50 project gun, i am pleased.

On another note, does anyone have a line on spare mags that aren't crazy expensive, I missed the ones at tillsonburg.

I read the CZ 45x/BRNO1/2 mags were all compatible ?

But all in a sudden the $50,- project .22 becomes more expensive, doesn't it ?...

I would like a couple 10 round poylemer mags. I borrowed a couple last weekend from my 455, and they fed perfectly.
