If you have a lathe, pieces of scrap barrel make good stock for turning bolt knobs.... Usually get them free from a gunsmith, and you don't need much for a bolt knob.
 
I just made a single shot adapter from high-density polyethylene block.
It took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish to make the adapter. I used a belt sander with 100 grit paper and I used a few small files (round, flat and triangle shape) to make the slots.
I might use a fine grit sand paper to polish it but it works great.
I bought a handful of these blocks to save on cutting fee, so I listed them on the EE. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I must say it is refreshing to read a thread that hasn't been buggered with by trollers (too much) and contains a wealth of information. There will always be those to make retarded comments and can't be helped. There are birds everywhere. Overall I am highly impressed and it is rare that I can read 67 pages of one thread. Kudos to the OP! Thanks for the valuable info. I bought 2 myself and I look forward to tinkering.
 
I made an improved version of the single shot adapter today. It didn't take more time but I cut all the slots deeper and polished the adapter with 400 grit paper. Also, I sanded the feed ramp in an angle for better feeding.
The adapter is a perfect fit. It has a firm catch in the mag well and feeds nicely. I'm happy with it. :)

Given the fact that these magazines are very hard to find and will cost US$60 and up, I think it's a good idea to use a single shot adapter for hunting. I won't feel horrified if I lose one of these in the bush. To me, that's the main reason.
Also, I've heard that single shot adapters provide more consistent feeding for target shooting. I imagine, factory made adapters with tight tolerances can improve accuracy but I'll try this adapter at the range too.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll most likely stick with the mags,at least at first. I will only shoot this rifle at the range and won't be hunting with it.
 
Rusty, I doubt you would notice any difference in accuracy between your s/s adapter (very nice work, btw) and a factory one. Using the adapter keeps from shaving the bullet tips, as sometimes happens with the factory mags (which do not always feed very well). The adapter I have also fits snugly without protuding from the bottom of the stock as the 5 round mag does, which makes it more comfortable to carry in the field.

I agree. I wouldn't even dream to expect improved accuracy from my DIY adapter. As I said, I'll mainly use it for hunting. But it's a fun project too. :)

I believe Minim meant that your very nice adapter would perform as well as a factory job, and if it feeds without shaving the bullet then you have a winner for sure. What was the width, length and height of the rough piece again? I need to make 3!! Again, very nice job, once I have those made, the mags will likely go into storage as we will use these rifles mostly for target and I prefer single shot for that as it seems to slow the pace and makes you focus and think!
 
The raw blocks are 30mm x 50mm x 12.5mm size. They're just a tad bigger/thicker than the original magazine, so not much sanding/shaping is required. The majority of work is to file the feeding ramp and the groves so the adapter fits tightly in the magazine well.
I kind of rushed with the first one (and it shows.... :redface:) but the second one turned out great.
