Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

I only own one semi, and it functions well, but in regards to accuracy out of my NS522 it was ace.

I plan to do a whole range of testing of different ammo , well ammo I can find ,,, I am all so looking for some Hen's teeth hahahahah

Thanks guys for the info , Checked tracking CP .... looks like it's getting closer ..................................cou:

I picked up some Federal AutoMatch .22 LR today , works out to $ 3.80 a box of 50 , I guess that's the rate , it was a bit cheaper than some other online stores prices and no shipping to pay , funny that a lot of places list it at a higher price yet they are all sold out ,,,, ,So to be on the safe side I got a couple of bricks ,,,, as 22 lr is very hard to find down here , CT has rem sub sonic ,a box of 50 rds for $10.99 plus tax ,,,, so at $3.80 a box is fair in this neck of the woods .

I had Gagnon's order me 4 bricks of RWS Rifle Target. He is bringing in an extra 6 bricks to see if they sell. They will be $8.99/50 same as the RWS Club price. Should arrive at the store at the end of next week if you want to call to reserve some ask for Gerry. I haven't tried the Rifle Target in my Norinc yet but my Mossberg LSB shoots under 1/2" with it.
Scott...

Hey guys I'm looking for a set of high rings for my NS, medium don't fit right with my custom stock. Any suggestions?

Go on line and look at Hawke Optics. Thet have a line of rimfire rings that will likely have something that will work. They run around $30-35 a set.

OK, so the mag release has always been a pain in my a$$. It stabs me in right in the palm of my support hand while shooting offhand. Im seeing a custom release in the near future...

Well, I will be tinkering tomorrow, but if I make a decent one that fits my needs then I will make one for you too.

OK?

I had a similar problem with my Norinco JW-15. I finally removed the mag release and turned the rifle into a single shot. It'll be interesting to see what you come up with on your 522.

When trying different ammo to see what shoots the best first torque your stock to see what it likes. My gun likes 20 inch pounds. This will shrink the groups considerably.

Speaking of the protruding mag release--I've often thought about trying to shorten the NS522 magazine. I shoot mine mostly with the single shot adapter, which does not protrude, and I'd prefer a magazine that also doesn't protrude. I've seen pictures of a .22 LR Brno magazine that James Anderson shortened, but James Anderson I'm not. I'd gladly give up a round of capacity (i.e., 4 instead of 5) if I had a magazine that was almost flush with the bottom metal. Anyone got any ideas, advice, etc on shortening a rimfire rifle magazine?

This would not be difficult on a NS at all.

I will take some measurements.
