Hi all!
Has anyone tried the CZ copy?
Any thoughts vs. the original?
Most of the reviews I saw looking this up offered a lot of spec comparison but not much else.

Thanks in advance!

I had one I briefly, grip was a little different from modern CZ 75/85 guns. it was nothing special I traded it shortly after I got it.

I have one and shoot it regularly. I like it a lot; it has a great trigger; double action is pretty good too, and it eats all kinds of ammo. The hard plastic grips are a bit S****y, but I put on some old CZ ones (had to file them a bit for a good fit. It is a good, maybe great pistol, and mine has me convinced that I want to upgrade to a real CZ in the future, but it's good enough, I don't feel I have to do it right away. I would like to get the NP40 (same pistol in 40 S&W) some day.

I think you could still find them in the $300 range which is less than half price for essentially a new pistol. One of mine is interchangeable with my CZ but the other one is not. They all shoot about the same but I am no competition shooter.

I haven't handled a real CZ so I can't compare, (I assume the CZ would just be nicer to have and to hold.) But ...

...for curiousity about Norinco pistols and the .40S&W cartridge and an approximation of CZ pistols I bought a used NP40 instead of an NZ85. I prefer revolvers and have limited time and space for shooting and storing guns so I never intended to keep it. I tried it, thought well of it, sold it according to plan.

I liked the NP40 enough that if I were going to keep another semi-auto (I have a Browning HiPower for sentimental reasons) I'd have replaced the NP40 with an NZ85 to keep my reloading simpler. Plenty of gun for the money.

There are a few new ones kicking around for about $400.00 Still a great price. Compared to the other offerings that Norinco makes, these are a fairly complex pistol... If you lack mechanical confidence or are a bit ham fisted, don't take them down any further than a field strip. You will need magnification and small tweezers to reassemble... and likely a few tries.

Thanks for the info, I have a NP58 and it is a good shooter, but the long trigger and heavy double action is not as nice as my NZ85. Like the NZ85, I replaced the hard plastic grips with a pair of Sig 226 Uncle Mikes over molded grips, and it made a real difference in comfort.

I now have a cz one but I had a Norc. in all honesty with that money I cannot find anything as decent as the 85b copy. Should have kept it.

I had the np40...shot well enough..upgraded front sight at a smith...as per everyone else put Cz grip panels on..traded after a while..no real reason...I do however remember the razor sharp slide stop ...honestly..shaved some skin with it...

I have 2 of them - plus a real CZ.

After a trigger job and new sights and grips it shoots as well as the real one. And the CZ is a great platform, too.

Buy it.

How difficult was the trigger job? Would someone who's mechanically inclined be able to perform the swap?

I would just snag an older cz 75 pre b and have fun there. But norincos seem to move easy in the EE at the right price so try and sell could be the ticket.
