hi all

i have a 1911 clone and love it! i was just wondering which other pistols by norinco are good? the sig clone caught my eye in particular.

cheers

I have the NP-34 Sig P228 copy. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Thanks to the Sig design it is light, and easy to strip and clean. It is also reliable and feeds anything. Recoil is a bit jumpy but far from punishing and the sights tend to reset themselves.

BUT. The sights suck. You can't aim precisely with them. I find they are great for minute of silhouette target at 10-25 yards. I can hit 9 or even 10/10 repeatedly. I can only get good groups at extreme close range below 10 yards. DA trigger is horrible, though SA trigger is good. Hammer is a bit stiff. Some people hate the grips - I liked them until a screw worked itself loose.

In short, the NP-34 is really fun but lacking in the accuracy department (the horrible things I did to its barrel as a cleaning novice may have something to do with that though). Also, I hear that the NP-34 will break down (parts wear or fail) more easily than other pistols, and has nothing on the real Sig in terms of robustness. However, I have found it perfect for teaching newbies to enjoy shooting, as everyone loves it and it is hard to put down.

To put it another way, the Norinco 1911A1 is a firearm I would consider spending more money on to make it better. I would not do the same, or at least as much, for the NP-34. I also have a Norinco Tokarev but it is kinda boring and plain vanilla, at least for me. Lotsa fire and recoil though, for those who like that sort of thing. No frills, no fancy sight, though, etc...

The Norinco CZ 85 clone is very nice, good sights, reasonable trigger, good solid gun. Gunnar in Prince George sells them with a little tune-up, he's convinced that it's one to last and that's good enough for me :)

I've got a stock NZ85b, and I can't say enough good things about it. The trigger was good out of the box and it was deadly accurate from day one.

IMHO, you already have the best handgun Norinco makes. They've made enough 1911's now that I suspect they've got making the inexpensive forged 1911 down to a real science.

How long before the anti-Norinco brigade descend on this thread?

Probably in as much time as it takes for one of the Norinco fans to find out his frame is cracked.

 CRAP! I just sprayed a whole mouthload of coke on the monitor.    Nice return.

Well, Redleg, my NZ85b hasn't had as many rounds through it as your range guns (I'm probably up around 5000 rounds through it) but it shoots as good as the day I bought it.

I think the cracked frames were the SIG copies with the aluminum frames. The steel frames seem fine.

I've not seen a cracked 1911 frame yet... redleg do you guys rn any Nork 1911's on the range? I'd be curious to hear how they perform if so.

I sure like my NP-22.

I find it accurate (for me anyways), has a nice feel, and accepted real SIG springs without a hitch. Out of all my Norinco handguns, it has the nicest finish.

I'm pleased with my NP22 as well. I was looking for a cheap gun to plink with and to perhaps get me into IPSC if I get interested enough. As we're using the Sig 226 at work (and I can't afford a real one right now), I also wanted something to closely approximate the Sig. The finish isn't too bad and with the Hogue grips I put on, it feels pretty good. The sights really are nothing to write home about and the DA trigger sucks. The cracked frame issue is a concern but I bought the gun 'buyer beware'; if it happens, I'll only have myself to blame.

For what I wanted and what it cost, I'm a happy camper. :D

Ouch. From the two guys with some of the most expensive pistols on the market.

lol - GO FIGURE

If norinco Sigs are as good as the real sigs then the two guys would begin to loose the 500% profit margin...

(not that TSE gets a 500% margin - just that by the time it makes its way there, that is what you are looking at)
:?

I had the NP-40 and after using it for the BB course and a match it when bad. :( The namelss seller, is switching it for the NP-22 so I am looking forward to the renewed shooting. :D

Well the first time it was a safty that kept coming out on the Ambi safety. They quickly fixed that then I had an endless barrage of problems with the gun in the way of stoppages. :x When that was fixed and I got it back the rear sight fell off. That was the end of my love affair with the NP40.
The compnay was very helpful in getting the NP40 returned and an NP22 being issued in its place. In defence of the NP line, it may have just been one bad gun. There are a lot of them on the market so your bound to have one dud. Much like ammo, some are squibs. I am getting a new gun, eventualy, so I am ok with the whole thing.

I hope this is enough detail.
