Norinco type 81 nr-81 being made again

What is it with the Canadian firearms community? I swear to Jeebus, if they were giving these away for free, there'd still be guys #####ing about the cost of ammo or gas needed to drive to the store to pick up their free gun! In the US, the NR spends $500,000 a month just on litigation, nothing else. We need to stop being cheap, penny-pinching dicks and start thinking big picture. The more of these types of firearms in Canada, the more familiar and less scary they become to the non-gun owning public. And the harder it will be to ban them.

Some of these "industry insiders" are hilarious. It's nice a couple of you guys actually know your stuff though.

Fenceline, TI already has one in for FRT approval? Nice.

The idea north sylva is importing them just because they import other norinco products is presumptuous. So far their MO has been to let someone else take first crack at it then go after it after. Type 97 was a canadaammo thing first , TI started the qbu 88 and now north sylva lists it. Same idea with CSA VZ58's after wolverine and marstar started bringing in VZ's. Not a negative thing but until there is an FRT there this is all just out imaginations.

No "north sylva" qbu88 or similar frt either. That is a nice little rumor in itself that they are bringing them in.

There are projects that are known but not openly acknowledge yet by NS. No sense getting the masses all a froth. There is enough of that already between other canadian import projects like the RPD, type 97 NRR and this gem.

I'd be willing to drop max $1000.00 on the rifle version in NR and more on the LMG model.

Lets be realistic, it's Canada and it cost a lot to bring new toys in. As stated before, even junk AK's are commanding a premium down south, why would we be seeing such cheap prices up here, just not going to happen.

it's not penny pinching it is paying for quality if such quality exists.
the m305 is a 599.00 (used to be 399) and the same Chinese quality control comes with the 599.00 rifle
so yer telling me I'm a cheap penny pinching #### because I don't think these Chinese rifles should be any more than an M305???
ya...... okay then
1000.00 for a Chinese gun LOL I've handled and shot several T97's and paying premium for Chinese craftsmanship just because it's a bullpup is a foolish waste of money. The T97 is no 1000.00 dollar rifle..... but a fool and his money...... we all know that story.
all you guys are doing is feeding the profit margins of imports and retailers LOL
ya' all can have at er , I ain't drinkin "that" coolaid

Then be prepared to not see any new and interesting firearms being imported.

I'll continue to support the industry so that I can get my hands on things I want.

It's called continued and ever increasing bureaucratic nightmares/costs for the exporters and importers to deal with and general inflation.

You don't want to buy them, then don't, it's as simple as that.

i disagree, my colt cost me 1000$, why should this rifle be priced at 1000$, it is certainly not a colt. Just because its NR? I dont see the logic in that. Maybe thats just me. Price it at half the price of my colt max! then ill look into getting one. Tired of this price fixing just because its a non restricted, how the hell is that a justification on the quality of the rifle? Maybe thats ok with some of you, not ok with me, hopefully the ar gets NR and we'll see just how much they start pricing these rifles. My 2 cents.

Because when the Chinese invade, it'll be worth having the same gun as them - they'll just shoot guys with AR's, they won't know who's side you're on if you have the same gun as them. (pretty sneaky huh?)

my six foot 3 height, my beard, my blue eyes and my big ##### will definitely give me away as not Chinese before my ar does.

This has absolutely NO CHANCE it will ever come into Canada.

Why? Well it looks like an AK! Reason enough for it to be prohibited.

if that's the case then the VZ58 shouldn't have come in .

its funny watching this price guessing game , its as if they can influence the price by guessing low .

the seller will sell at what they think they will get for them then the market forces take over , if too high the market will let them know .

Didn't the RCMP lab reclassify the Armi Jager AP80 to prohibited because it looked liked a AK47?

No, they classified it as prohib because it is a direct mechanical variant of the Mitchell Arms AK22, which is listed on the AK47 list of prohibited guns under the Order in Council.

When I say mechanical variant, the Armi Jäger AP80 and Mitchell Arms AK22 are exactly the same gun, with different markings/logos made in the exact same arsenal on the same assembly line.

Politicians prohibited the AK22 by looks, and all variants of it. Hence the AP80 is bannd as a variant of the AK22 by Mitchell Arms.

Same reason the AP74 is an AR variant. They named it as such.

Mitchell Arms AK22, banned by OIC.

Armi Jäger AP80 banned as a variant of the Mitchell Arms AK22. Same gun. Politicians to blame.

There are 6'3" tall Chinese, and since most of the insurrection will occur after 2:00 am (it's both dark AND the bars are closed) everything else (after a couple of dozen cold ones, I do mean everything else) won't ....er.....trip you up.

yup, what he said
I'm gonna happily pay around 3300.00 plus tax for a canadian made , .338federal modern hunter by atrs........ THAT is supporting the Canadian firearms industry.
when marstar brought us a 399.00 semi auto Chinese made battle rifle way back in the day..... THAT was supporting the Canadian shooting community
an Chinese AR is what ...... under 700?
you are paying 1000plus for a T97 ...... simply because it's a nonrestricted bullpup
I wish I still worked in the sporting goods industry, I could tell you exactly what a t97 costs landed, but I can't
I certainly don't begrudge businesses making money, hell, if folks wanna dump 1000.00 plus on a Chinese rifle, fill yer boots, I will absolutely not look down my nose at you.
I just won't put my name in the hat for paying thru the nose for a rifle...... just so we can have them, or more of them in Canada.
to each his own I guess.

Supply, vs demand, vs quality.

Not all Colt ARs are available for $1000. And the market is saturated with ARs of all types of quality.

There are lots of other threads about price comparisons. Most of them seem to involve China.
