Im shopping for a Grizzly and i got a few question that i would appreciate getting answer before ordering.

1) Norinco and Dominion Arms are probably the same, or one bought the other.. what is the newer version and the older version of their 12.5" 12gauge .. are they dropping the DA name and going for Norinco now ? If i buy a DA Grizzly, i get the old ones ?

2) To my understanding, its doable to replace the forend of the 12.5 grizzly with a classic wood-looking forend from the remington 870 lines (url would be appreciated, there are a lot of remington out there)

3) The good old fight between Ghost Ring sight vs Bead.. did "bead" won ? :)

4) I guess they discontinued the Remington Wingmaster.. but I really loved the look of the Rebel Till Death shotgun

What can I do to have a short shotgun that looks like that ? [can't find wingmaster]
DA Grizzly 12.5 + remington wood style forend ?
I really wanted the shortest possible shotgun (26" 1/8) for backpacking but decided that 4 more inches wasn't a big deal for the extra 2 shell in the tube. My main choices now are DA Grizzly 12.5 or a rem 870 something!

Once again, thank you for all your help and any input are welcome, this forum kicks arses!

for a few dollars less than the 870 express, you can get a Norinco HP9 which has a metal trigger guard vice the new rem plastic style...

Hp9 and grizzly are exactly the same I believe. I think they're even made in the same factory. Just different name stamped on. I have a grizzly and it runs like a Swiss watch. Never had a single issue. Plus all 870 parts are interchangeable. If I were do do it a second time, I'd find a nice old Wingmaster with good wood on it and get a short barrel for it. I love the wingmaster stocks. The ghost ring works great for me, but between that and a bead on such a short gun is just personal preference IMO.

1.They are both made by Hawk/Qiqihar but with different importers.
2.The tube is thicker so you will need to sand it down to fit Remington foreends.
3.I like Ghost Ring Sights but that is just me.
4.Get a old Wingmaster, they are works of art.

the overall idea seem to be able to find a Wingmaster... or get a grizzly if you dont want to mod at all. Was i correct in the fact that the only wingmaster i can buy are old ones here and there.. because i have never shopped for used firearms before.. (i tried a little locally and reading a few EE here.) but it may be not easy to find one!

What are my chance in finding a wingmaster ? i have read that its becoming rare and the price are skyrocketing.. am i correct ?

Best case scenario, i buy a Wingmaster.. if its too much trouble and i wont wait 6 months for my first shotgun, i'll go grizzly

EDIT: i see the new Wingmaster at remington for 818$ .. i thought it was discontinued since everybody was talking about OLD ones... its probably cause of the price!

Doc;
My advice is be patient and get a wingmaster. I purchased a DA Grizzly 12.5 and really did not care for it. I found it heavy and not at all smooth like my other wingmaster. I sold the Grizzly a few months ago. I found an old wingmaster on the EE a few weeks ago for $200, I sold the 30" barrel for $75 and put on a $150 12.5 inch barrel from Canada Ammo. Total cost $275

Mine is not as fancy as the "Rebel" - some of the blueing is worn off and the wood stocks are quite scratched up, but it is only a truck and bush gun and I am very happy with it.
Cheers

i have check locally around my area.. there was a wingmaster magnum for 400$ and a few 300-350$ regular Wingmaster but still no answers from anyone.

added a WTB in the shotgun EE and crossing my finger. i'll "TRY" to be patient :)

Tom E: flancy or not, all i see is a sweet Wingmaster! I would be happy with your setup! and until i actually try a grizzly myself, i can't say for sure.. while maybe not as good as a Wingmaster, if I would find it nice... those who are not on their first shotgun would notice more the difference.

buy an express reciever in the ee and a dominion arms barrel. stocks are plentiful

Getting a little sick of failed Wingmaster deal and overpriced tag.. i begin to think to just buy a freakin' new gun from a store.

then i took a look at the 870 express on frontierfirearms.ca and it say:

Note: Parts from the Express Super Magnum and all other model 870 shotguns are NOT interchangeable.

Which mean ?

The non-express are more compatible with other gun part i can find ?
are you sure the express even take the dominion arms barrel ?

The aim is still having a reliable, smooth and ###y super short shotgun.. Getting a little less patient today, i could even get a grizzly with the right barrel and length already on it!

The barrels on the last models Remington shotguns are different.
They have the ring brazed at a different position, which is
more forward than the previous models.

Consequently, on an old Rem you can't put one of the new style barrels,
because the mag tube would be too short.
And, at the same time, if you want to put an old style barrel on a new model Rem,
you have to cut some from the mag and re-thread it.

Then buy Dlask. Just expect to pay for it.

You are aware that Dlask sell it 850$ then.. and most likely aware that you can buy a brand spanking new Wingmaster and the grizzly for that price! I dont know what kind of 870 Dlask used on is shorty but my thread is all about Wingmaster.So... Dlask shorty Never gonna happen for this project.

I was just hoping to fit that 12.5 or 14 grizzly barrel on something made by Remington "available new" and reliable like the Wingmaster without going through flea markets, auction sites and dealing with greedy people for an old Wingmaster.

Your problem is that you're not the only one looking for an "Old Wingmaster" cheap. Price, as usual, reflects demand. I've just put a Dominion barrel on an 870 express - $399 for the shotgun with wood stock and forend plus $150 for the barrel. looks good so far.

I have multiple "in-progress" deal for Wingmasters right now, just waiting on confirmation but there truly are out there.. the best one is a very clean wingmaster magnum in its original box..

but still... waiting and dealing... as long as its not in my hand, the hunt is not over. The express+12.5 barrel is a very good option (without have tried myself)... plus.. its NEW :)

Do you happen to have a few pics for me/us ? :)

Remington only produces one model with the longer one piece mag tube. All the other models retain the traditional length 4rd tube.

I'd still be looking for an old 2 3/4" only Wingmaster. They can still be found for reasonable prices.
