Norma TAC-22 High-Performance on sale at Cabelas

I may have to take my original comment back.

I tested this stuff in my CZ 455 stainless standard barrel last week. At 100 yards out is well under 1". Due to my unimpressive first couple of tests, I wasn't holding out much hope but I had a box along and stuck in 10 rounds to make sure it sucked. The first group was great. 10 more. 10 more. And so on until that box was gone. Thinking it might be a fluke, I grabbed another box the next time with the same results.

The first time I was shooting it in a 452 and 457 during the summer. I think it was probably 25°C. This time with the 455 it was -3°C. Not sure if it would make that much of a difference but when it finally warms up and the wind dies down, I'll try it again.

Went into the Calgary store and saw that they have stacks of 50 round boxes.
So I ask a clerk behind the counter if I can have 4 bricks from the back and he tells me they only come in 50 round boxes.

Is this right? This ammo can't be had in a 500 round brick?

I buy bricks at Canadian Tire; a bit more than Cabelas, but easier. It shot lights out in my Brno 4 and OK in my Brno 2. My Cooey 78 and my CZ455 Super Match don't like it as well as CCI SV. Remington Elie Target was over priced crap in all my rifles.

I think it might be just the gun. As it didn't shoot well in my Anschutz or my 10/22. At 50 with the Anschutz it was 7/8-1" and my 10/22 at 25 was floating around 1/2"

Playing "Ammo Lottery" with 'low-priced' stuff ? It's bad enuf with the 'good ammo' having to play "Lot Lotto".

Then again, is it the Black box or the Red box stuff? As there was difference in quality between those 2.

i’ve read people say the discontinued black box was better. there’s a stated fps difference between the two… red box shoots pretty good out of my MTR barrel, bit more consistent than cci sv.

Maybe some batches of this ammo are better or worse than others, regardless of the rifle.

Indeed. I just found it interesting that typically my three CZ bolt actions have very similar likes between them. However, in this case, the 455 really liked those boxes and the other two didn't. I ordered 5000 more from Tenda to see if it transfers to other batches. Shooting that gun at 3/4" at 100 yards is good enough accuracy for me.

I heard the red box was better than the black. When Cabela's had this deal, many were hoping it was the red box.

Hello,

The red box has an extra level of quality. It was manufactured and tested with the highest level of quality and control. The same ammo better quality.

Kind Regards,

Norma also makes Match-22, which suggests to me one is lower grade than the other, hard to find so have never tried it
Tac-22 shoots about like Cdn Match in my Ruger

I found the red box stuff at $4.99/50 - bought 10 boxes. What's the consensus on it now?

I had a brick of the red box and found it to be 100% reliable and gopher accurate. The wax I found to be very sticky however, so much so it gummed up my 10/22 magazines.

that’s a great price specially if you got it from a brick and mortar! i just bought a couple bricks (online) for 59.00 and i consider that a good deal. my 457 loves it, .4’s at 50 yards all day long.

Have you completed the 1/2 inch challenge with it. Pretty impressive if it's all day long. Good shooting
