I am thinking about buying an AR-15.

Please, I would need some opinions on the North Eastern Arms NEA-15.

Or, maybe, I should go with a Stag Arms?

Thanx

looking in the black and green rifle section, there are plenty of threads on the NEA products.

NEA and Stag hey are both good choices, backed by very reputable dealers, the only thing for you to think about is how do you like the look of the milling.

Stag arms arw great products, fit and finish are good mil spec. Quality bolt carriers.
But from what I understand you can get anything shorter then 16.5bbl.
But if that's not a factor. Go for the stag!

Not to hijack, but I am also looking to purchase my first ar. As much as I want a stag, NEA or even a dlask, I don't really think my budget could handle anything more expensive then a norc. I have been eyeing up the new core 15 though and looking for some way to make some extra $ to get one!

Why not assemble your own NEA over time by purchasing a complete lower to start. Then start looking at which barrel length you want to go with and when a complete upper with proper barrel length become available, purchase it and assemble.

My NEA 10.5" has been 100% reliable. I did replace the trigger springs the furniture, though.

Granted i only put about 600 rounds through my stag arms, its been fun, nice little rifle, a couple of Failures to feed in the end but that could have been a combinations of dirty rifle/mags/ammo, nothing that a forward assist couldnt fix :D

the NEA is less than the Core15 and with NEA you get an aluminum quad rail as opposed to plastic hand guards.

between the Norinco, core15, and NEA.... I would go NEA

just my opinion

I wouldn't go with an NEA as a first choice strictly due to customer support issues I've experienced.

Ok do tell on how you had customer services issues, everyone on this board that had issues had them addressed, even people that did modification had issues covered (translated they buggered something up).

Hmm I wasn't aware NEA had a 'budget' (for lack of a better term) ar. I thought their prices were a tiny bit higher. Do they have them listed on their website? (Browsing on a blackberry, not a fun experience)

Not to dog pile, but I wanted facts and answers from NEA before I committed.

I was pleasantly surprised when D. McFaul gave me his number and fielded my calls, as well as returning them.

Long chats, some inside information given in confidence, and I am now an NEA owner.

Its not very often that we come across a product that, if there is an issue, when driving up north, I can drop it off, and then pick it up an the way back.

I got a core15 about 2 weeks ago and it looked good but the fit was poor.

The uppper had a lot of play in it you could rattle the thing like a baby rattle.
And not very smoth with the action considering they put the slick coating in the upper which was patchy.

One thing is true these days you get what you pay for. I think in Core's case to add the extras like the chevrons,FA BCG ect corners get cut to make the difference which for them seems to be the fit of the parts.

Thanks for the honest assessment of the core. All in all I've heard mostly positive reviews. I will have to make a call to NEA tomorrow and see what their price is, but I'm leaning heavily towards a norc and a lower parts kit (rock river arms maybe?). I will continue to drool over all your more expensive models however :p
