North Sylvia-Chiappa Alaskan Scout Take Down in 45-70

Not sure what the attraction is to 45-70?

The cartridge is way too long for amount of powder it holds.

Sure it looks impressive. But it's mostly just empty brass.

.454-Casull with a 12" Barrel would be ideal.

Just do a google search and type in .454 vs 45-70 and you will see the obvious differences. The .454 runs out of powder room to compete with the 45-70 in both velocity and fps.

You can also build up and hand load hotter custom loads with the 45-70. With the .454 you are limited to much less power

Guys, it's very early, but there is a 12" .45-70 in the works.

I'll post some pictures once they become available.

Thanks,

I hunt a lot in the United States so I'd need one with a 16" barrel.
You can't import a short barreled (less than 16" bbl) rifle or shotgun into the USA.
The Mare's Leg rifles like the Rossi Ranch Hand are an exception as they are classed as a pistol according to BATFE rules in the USA.
Don't enter NY, DC, NJ with anything classified as a pistol ! If you do you and get caught you can expect a lengthy stopover in a state prison.
