The Fit and Finish is for a rework VERY Good. The Norwegians managed to brake these rifles down put a new 30.06 barrel on, do some minor receiver work etc, and put the same rifle back together with ALL of it's original matching parts.

Not like the Russians, who just through everything in a pile. Anyhow the 30.06 is an awsome round. I noticed that the front sight is taller, so I'm thinking these re-works also have been re-zeroed at factory too. I have not shot it yet, but will post results once I do.:canadaFlag:

Let me know how it shoots K98ACTION. Does it still have all of its German Codes as well as the Swastika??

The only original German serial numbers that the Norwegians Lined out are the one shown on the left side of the receiver, and the one on the butt plate. All other locations the original numbers are intact. All Waffen Ampt inspections marks are matching and correct for manufacture year. Wa26

OK, well I bit the (expensive) bullet and ordered one from P&S today so I could check one out in person and add it to the MKL (how's that for dedication?).

More to follow.

Yes, they were newly made "stepped" barrels in 30-06. They also milled a half-moon the length of half the receiver ring to help accommodate the longer cartridge of the 30-06

Interesting. It's been stated by some guys that none of the Norwegians are dated after 1942, yet Jean has a CE43 on his web site, and the rifle above looks like it's probably post-42 production. It has many later traits like the stepped front ring, phosphate finish, unpolished machine marks on the receiver, etc. In fact, it looks like maybe a 44 dated rifle to my eyes.

Clearly this "Norway scrapped all the post 1942 rifles for parts" idea is in error.

It's a shame the barrel and receivers were changed/altered. Is the bolt at least all matching?
At least the stock matches the rifle.
.30-06 in a Mauser is like a '65 Corvette with a Dodge inline 6. Technically not correct!

Not so! They are technically VERY correct for a Norwegian rifle and collectible as such. Besides, LOTS of Mausers were made in .30-06 - they caled them 1903 Springfields

I guess I just prefer them the way they left Oberndorf. ;)

Well, very few Mausers ever left oberndorf comparatively. They were made all over the Reich and have subsequently been used in many different calibers by many different nations ;)

Also, consider that a "the way they left Oberndorf" Mauser is easily a $1200+ rifle in anything close to nice and matching condition, not everyone is going to get one ;)

Good show Claven.

Not sure how yours will shoot, but I had mine at the range yesterday (it was just way to nice to be in the office), anyhow, I was VERY impressed with it's accuracy. There is no BS when it comes to aim low to hit high, 6 o'clock crap with the Norweg like my RC. The wegians actually put a proper front blade on the barrel which is zeroed at 100m. The 30.06 gives a pretty big wallope, but she was dead on at 100m. and grouped about 2.5". At 200m, I put the rear sight at 200, and hit center at 200, grouped about 4.5". I fired it off hand standing at 200, and hit the target five times, grouping was pretty big from the standing, but had that been a person, he was going down.

My RC, is no where near as accurate.

Oh, and Yes the bolt is all matched to the receiver and stock. :D

Quite possibly as I don't see it on the site anymore ;) I almost want to order 867 as well given that nice solid walnut stock - DROOL. The one I ordered is rather nice itself though...

My new quest is to track down a 1945 semi or full kriegsmodel. Been wanting one for a long time, but have never found one with money in hand :(

Odd really, considering they were actually pretty common as vet returns go, and ppl are usually anxious to sell or upgrade to a nicer early war example.

Me, I prefer the desperation evident in late-war German and mid-war Russian guns. Ugly but functional!
