Nosler announces they will be making NEW KING ammo!

Blah, blah, blah .......

Hate to burst a few bubbles here, but the 375 Chatfield-Taylor was THE original 375 short mag. I personally think it would have been more popular if it had been easier to spell (like Ruger). ;)

:cool:Any handy access to cartridge specs, dimensions and reload data etc??

:D

I wonder if the straighter, shorter case feeds any worse than the H&H...

Looking at this cartridge as sort of an alternative to a .338 Win Mag in a standard action.

They figured out how to make straight cartridges feed a long time ago. Otherwise we would have problems with all the Weatherbys, non H&H belted magnums, 308 based cartridges etc

The H&H cartridges produced the standard for reliable feeding in Mauser style rifles, and that design even today is less likely to cause problems than when similar rifles are chambered for cartridges with minimum taper. That said, the Weatherby MK-V Dangerous Game Rifle has remarkable feeding for its minimum taper cartridges based on the .378 case, due to the rifle's single stack magazine and straight line feeding. For the record though, having had some experience with the Ruger Alaskan, I can say that it’s feeding is flawless.

I'd be concerned for being able to get brass for the .375 Ruger 20 years from now.Stock up now I guess ,me I like the classics like H+H although the CT makes more sense on a .338 parent case..........Harold

All are very good cartridges with their own merits. Neither offers very much over the others.

I personally think the stainless Ruger rifle is the new best deal out there. Nice overall kit if one wants to restock it. It's really too bad they don't offer it in a laminated stock instead good fiberglass.

Sounds to me that you are trying to justify buying one of these? Just saying----------
LOL
Update from the SHOT show in Vegas:

Due to the overwhelming success of the 375 Ruger, ammunition for the NEW KING will be available in Nosler's ammo in 260gr Accubond ammo, 300gr Partition and 300gr solids, as well as component brass

ALL HAIL THE NEW KING!!!

:)It does look interesting, thanks for the info, much appreciated. With the dies and components I have from my 'playtime' with my son in laws custom 375H&H, if I was going for a 375, the H&H is probably the route I'd take. Also,;) the H&H would be a better calibre fit with some of the other calibres of 'yesteryear' I have:D.

With the huge volume of rifles that Ruger has sold, as well as 4 or 5 other manufacturers making the NEW KING, I think brass availability will be fine. I recall people saying "stock up on brass" when the WSM's came out, too. :)

Who are the other " 4 or 5 manufacturers " ?? Hopefully somebody making a better quality rifle than Ruger...

You've likely single-handedly drummed up more business for Ruger than any other entity with your yearly 300+ post "all hail the new king" threads......:p

If the Ruger was truly the new king, then everyone would be rushing to chamber a rifle in that caliber. The .375 H&H has been around forever and probably will be around long after the Ruger fad is over. I love the Ruger cartridge, but I am not sure about its staying power.

:)I agree, and well stated.
