Nostalgic Hunting Pictures

I have one older vintage hunting picture that may be of interest. When we first moved to B.C. we lived in Barkerville for the first few months. This was just prior to it being made into or designated an historic site. ;)That being said, I'm one of the last surviving residents of Barkerville. A couple of note that lived there at that time was Mr. & Mrs. Joe & Betty Wendle and her forte, as shown in the photo, was hunting Grizzly, using a model 99 Savage in 22 Savage High Power. In their home I recall seeing at least four rug mounts hung in the stairwell to the upstairs.

This picture is of some of my 'vintage' Elk timber hunting package. I have a Moose draw for area 5 this year and what's in the following picture will be part of my secondary/back up on the hunt.

And, using some vintage ammo.

The primary firearm will be my recently acquired Husqvarna in 358NM

Time permitting, I'll work up some loads using 225gr Barnes TSX. Failing that, I'll use some of the Norma factory 250gr I've accumulated. It's not too shabby, on paper at least.

Nice looking Husky 358 Norma mag have its twin in my gun safe great rifles

Fantastic photos, all of them.

Thank you for sharing. I went hunting with my dad when I was about 11 or 12 a couple of times but we didn't take any photos which I now regret.

Seeing all these photos brought back the memories of those trips with my dad.

Again, thank you all, very much

Always judge a man by the wear in his hands.

Some of these men in these pics holy sausage fingers.

16 years of me slugging it in trades, mine look like a child's compared to them.

These are all awesome pictures, I really love looking at them and seeing the old timers and their rifles. Thanks to everyone who posted!

be my older cousin.
The tag says 1956.
Wee bit before I was born......:shotgun:
Keep'em coming folks......
Cheers.

Here is one of my Uncle and Father with bears they had shot on the farm, I think this would be about 1945 or 46

And one of my Father when he was 15 years old. He says they did not have fishing gear so would walk the creeks and shoot Pike with .22 rifles when they wanted fish. Would be 1944

Here's some pictures of my families trapline...These are from the 40's to 50's. We still run this trapline to this day. This was one of the first skidoo's sold in Northern Ontario.

Agreed! Love those H4831 stories. Whether they are about float planes in the north, goats in the mountains or reloading data from before I was born they are all great stories!

Keep them coming!
