Was at a local coin dealer today buying some bullion and found this little gem for bullion prices. I couldn't resist adding it to my precious metal holdings
It's a 1/4 troy oz 20 Mark gold piece minted in Prussia under the reign of Kaiser WIlhelm II. In all liklihood this came to Canada with a German immigrant after the first world war, possibly even someone fleeing nazi policies.
I buy and trade a fair bit of bullion and these are NOT what I would call common
Edit: For those who are curious, as of Friday's market close, there's about $400 worth of gold in the coin.
