You mean like the Remington pump in 223 that takes 30 rnd AR mags ?
Still limited to 5 rnds in Canada because the mag also fits the AR
 
Pin the mags!

Aside from it only being able to legally hold 10 rounds now which sucks for a rimfire rifle I dont see the big deal.Pin them to hold 10 rounds.Do you think every one turned in or destroyed their 20 and 30 round AR mags when the law changed to 10 rounds.No they pinned them to legal specs.Sure the RCMP flip flop is of concern and presidence but am I wrong in suggesting converting to satisfy the law.Why can someone not manufacture a new rifle magazine for this one say like a 25 round butler creek and list it as for the MP22 rifle only.Thanks--Dieseldog!:stirthepot2:

That is only because the 30 round mags were not specifically designed for it. That is why LAR-15 10 rounders are legal, because they were specifically made for the pistol. This is also why "improved enfield" .308 mags for the AIA bolt actions are legal even thought they are 10 round m14 mags. Essentially if it is stamped with a label that says it is not semi-auto centerfire rifle mag it is considered designed for the other firearm in question that can hold more than 5 rounds. DPMS already has a pump action AR but it ships with the standard mags that were "designed" for their semi auto ARs. Anyway, my point is that if there was an "AR style" mag that was stamped for a pump action rifle it could not be, under the current laws, classified as a prohib device. This is what forced the RCMP to "approve" the LAR-15 mag.
 
so since the RCMP had first crack with the rifle, and determined the rifle and mags to be fit for sale under our laws, are they gonna pony up compensation for the owners like the restrcted type 97 owners received?:nest:

and ya, im serious, they dropped the ball, no one who owns this rifle planned on breaking the law, rcmp should have to buy everyone drums :D

Compensation for what? The mags can simply be pinned to 10 rounds and you get to keep and use them.

Wouldn't make any difference at all, they aren't spending their own money on this stuff. It's not like they care about wasting your tax dollars on banning guns.

its funny you say this as i have contacted 2 companies in the states both magpul and c products to see if they would be interestd in making 30 round mags labled for us in ar pistol that could be pinned to 10 i never thought about the pump action a r mag thing as remington has a model 7615 that uses ar mags i wonder if its worth contacting remy in the states to see if they could make ar mags marked for use in 7615 rifles

That depends on where you shoot, doesn't it? As I mentioned earlier, I had originally held off on buying one because of the classification but I have realized that I shoot 95% or more of my rounds at a range. I almost never go plinking in the bush because the range is closer and I shoot my handguns more than rifles. At that point, a restricted rimfire carbine is no problem at all.

I said 15, but thanks for the undercut. I just hope shops are going to stock the 10's at least really soon. I didnt like the 25 anyways for bench shooting. This rifle is a "trainer" you can only shoot it at the range so what better training then to have to reload twice as much.
 
K I'm not real into the laws here, but since you are both aware they are prohib devices you should not be buying or selling them, right? Maybe if you have 12.x but I see you didn't mention that in your post, just put 25 rds down.

They are not PROHIB just yet........ Not untill I recieve a letter or a phone call or a knock on the door.

I will continue to use and enjoy my 25 rnd mags in my Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 untill they come and take them away from me! (Or if they write me a REALLY nasty letter).

I was thinking I could 'sand' off the S&W logo, and 're-brand' the mags and then have a sample sent to the CFC stating that they are 'only for use in the S&W M&P 15-22 Rifle'.....
