Now that we have time to process, any purchase regrets as far as money spent?

... Libs forced me to purchase handguns I would have in the next five years, so budget did take a huge hit ...

Looking at the restricted transfer numbers for the months following the announcement of the freeze, the conclusion is that Trudeau and Mendicino are the most successful handgun salesmen in Canadian history. I wonder what they think of THAT?

I regretted not getting a 10mm when available but got a glock 21 last minute and hope to convert it, so hopefully not a permanent regret.

I bought some others that I may regret when they arrive as I’ve never held them let alone shot them. I wish I could have tried them and still had a chance to sell, but when transfers take 6 months, that wasn’t possible.

Time will tell!

Needed a 22 revolver and my first dive in the EE was a ruger single 10, absolute joy to shoot.

I do regret the bond arms snake slayer I bought years ago, such a stupid gun, but still gets shot on occasion as a joke. Tried giving it to my brother and he didn’t even want it. Sort of regret not selling or trading it for something else
I was jonseing one of those SS but the price was just too much for what I may use it for. Even put in the cart once at Prophet but deleted and went for the Ruger Wrangler instead.

After 6 months of wait. I have gotten my first handguns in the mail and it feels like Christmas!!
After Friday's announcement it finally feels like we can catch a bit of a break. Slowly paying my credit card debt off.
Some of my purchases were better than others, but the more expensive ones feel right so I'm okay with that. 6 months for the approvals so no way to resell.
Regret not having any interest in the 10mm M&P when they were still available, but at least I can shop for 10mm conversion kits for P320 in the future.
I should also have gotten one of those cheap Sig Sauer 1911-22.
Overpaid 420$ for a Polymer80 G19 frame and I don't like it too much. I should have dished out more credit for a last minute aluminum BCL PX19 FOXBAT instead.
But overall it feels like all the panic purchasing was credit well spent. :)

I know the feeling about the 10mm M&P. I hummed and hawwed when they first came in and then poof, they were gone and they never got restocked. Oh well.
Grab a cheap upper for the p80, once you shoot it I think you will be suprised.

You're not missing much, heavy as hell, lots of recoil and the pellets have a hard time penetrating cardboard.

Looks nice though.

As someone who also has a G21, what's the conversion entail, drop in barrel and 10mm magazine? Is the mag the same dimension as the .45 acp one?

I have one too and looks like we are all thinking the same way except I did get it done.
My G21 is in 45, and i have a sweet aftermarket 10mm barrel. I have timed myself and if I wanted to, the conversion from one cal to the next..i'm in about the 7 second range...it's that easy. Just switch the barrel.
Cool thing is that this will now allow you to shoot .40 SW with no issues at all. Interchangeably with the 10 mm to be honest.
Keep in mind that you will need 45cal mags and 10mm mags. The 40's will fit the 10mm (kind of) but generally pop out. Best to get 40cal mags as well.
I stayed away from Glocks for years as I thought they were too fugly. Ended up buying this one and have never regretted it. Not only is it the most utilitarian HG I could own, it's a great shooter.
Excellent addition to anyone collection.

There are conversions, and there are conversions. You might get it to "work" just with that, but many people would say you've got to at least change the recoil spring and extractor as well. Good topic for a different thread.

Regarding the original topic, I don't regret any purchases that I made. I was pretty cautious and I don't think I overpaid for anything, except for one or two "must-haves" that I had been putting off buying until it was crunch time.

However, I regret NOT spending money: Top of that list is a commander-length 1911.

No, but... I do regreat waiting until after the dreaded announcement to get into the game, so to speak. Part of me wished I started couple years prior, but that is "water under the bridge" now. Also, starting so late I didn't realize what I really wanted until my funds were tapped out (panic buying? maybe...) and then the hammer came down. But, I'm content somewhat with what I was able to acquire in short time. Also, I hope I still can get my last purchase. While waiting for the transfer papers, my last purchase was stolen from the store I bought it from. Fingers-crossed that the authorities can recover it in acceptable transfer condition. Chin up and have a great day!

I feel the same. I got my RPAL late 2021, and first restricted one year ago in Feb. The plan was to shoot some, learn to shoot safely and work my way up to where I could join Black Badge / IPSC competitions perhaps buying and selling to get the perfect gun for that.

In the end I was somewhat forced to go buy more than i really needed, and probably did not get what I actually needed to accomplish my goal. If i had started a couple years back, outside of maybe getting one because you may never have a chance again, would have not likely bought everything I got.

TPR9. They went too far. Hobbit size trigger release reach I can barely shoot, wondering when it will finally go off or not. There's not much difference with the Thunder Pro, but just too mucn.
The world famous trigger reset is barely shorter and they kept the absurd ambi release levers that I cannot use without loosing my grip. At least I can swap them, as well as the slide assy, with the older model.
Maybe my next GF will have very small hands and will like shooting...

Nope, no regrets.

I bought some 22 revolvers for my wife & daughter and myself to go have some fun with. I did grab some cowboy action revolvers because it was now or never...

And I'm not sure, if funds were unlimited, what else I might have bought...

Wondering if a future gov will have the courage required to fix all this crap...

Haha... hella "some".

Not sure if regret is the right word, but does shoulda count:p as in I shoulda gotten a Coonan and a Pardini GT9. Maybe just maybe Messiah Poilievre can pull a rabbit out of his ass with a major and everything will be right as rain….maybe:p
