Now *this* is ###y

All I have to say is....

5 shot magazines....

$4000 is way too much bread for a gun you'll never be able to use hunting or off of a range, and to be limited to 5 round mags... (even 10 round LAR's)... Welll... ARGHH.

@Greg what are 10 rd LARS?

all pistol mags are capped at 10 rounds
semiauto centerfire rifle mags are capped at 5 rounds

there is a pistol variant of the AR-15 called the LAR

Legally you can use the 10 round LAR mags in your rifle

the law states the mags must be capped at whatever the magazine is ORIGIONALLY DESIGNED FOR. So you can buy mags that say"for pistol use only" Called LAR mags and they legally hold 10 rounds.

The upper of the MR556 won't fit to a standard AR15 lower. It has to do with German export laws governing military arms. So I don't know how likely it will be that HK will ever make a 416 compatible upper for a standard AR lower.

It cost $2,400 here south of the border in the US.

The ACR vs. SCAR mud/sand tests are coming now that I got some needed goodies in the mail this week. I have to get caught up on my product reviews then I'll shoot the reliability tests.

I heard that some 416 uppers unintentionally ended up in circulation in the US civil market and HK got real pissy about it? Something about them not wanting civvies to have military hardware

thats not funny thats disgusting to be honest.

i don't understand how it costs 1600 bucks to cross an imaginary line, someone is profiting off of things like this

Our MR223 does not come from USA but come from europe, longer trip and bigger imaginary line ... despite that:

The MR556A1 rifle is has standard upper and will fit any regular AR, that is what is sold in USA for a street price of $2400. The MR223 rifle (and its upper) that we are buying here WILL NOT fit any other AR, and that is what we are paying $4000 for. Also Euro prices on the MR223 have long since dropped. On this particular rifle in Canada we are overpaying by a large amount. Some fuel for the flame.

So does anyone know if there is an FRT for the MR556 or MR556A1 in the system?

The idea that an HK will outlast a quality DI gun is pure fantasy. Both DI and piston guns will run a similarly long time assuming proper maintenance and replacement of worn out parts.

The US has Colt M4's with more rounds on them than any HK416 has yet to see and with rebuild programs they just keep going and going.

Piston guns have advantages and disadvaNtages, as do DI guns, but no empirical data exists pointing to HK guns LASTING longer.

Well depends on the round count you are shooting....

Really?

OK I'll bite.

I've been shooting AR's since 1989. I suspect I've put more rounds through the DI platform than 95% of Canadian AR owners today. (You'd never know it looking at my groups!) :p;)

I owned many AR's over the decades. I have one with at least 20K rounds through it. It is still going strong. Does that count?

Does anyone know what the standard issue rifle of DevGroup and CAG?

It's the HK 416 with 10" barrel suppressed. So please keep arguing that the DI guns are better, last longer, cheaper ect.ect.ect.....

MR223's are expensive but I'd rather have the gun made in Germany than the MR556 made in the US.
