NR cz bren

This ^ also people placing a lot of hope on this gun, I have seen many mediocre or unfavourable reviews of this gun.

to be fair a lot of the issues seem to come from the CZ USA guns which seem to mostly have gas issues when it comes to the SBR/Pistol lenght x39 variants

Maybe, Maybe not, it's still all just an assumption IMO at this point until there is some actual users of the NR CDN gun. Which who knows when or if will happen.

The sterling is still a 180 and weighs close to 10lbs dry. Bren 2 with a 16 inch barrel is 7.3 lbs. NR version will be not much more. I'd way rather pack around a lighter rifle. Not saying the sterling is bad but mediocre accuracy and being a tank ruin it for me

Since when is 1 to 1.5 MOA 5-round groups @ 100m "Mediocre Accuracy"? That is what the R18 Mk2 is capable of with 169gr FGMM if you can do your part. You must have some awfully accurate semi-auto rifles to consider the production R18 Mk2 "Mediocre"......

Perhaps you are confusing my initial 2-part review of the "Pencil Barrelled" R18 Mk2 Test Rifle with the demonstrated accuracy potential of the heavier-barrelled Production version. The follow-on review can be found here: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...369-Sterling-Arms-International-R18-Mk2-Redux!

Yes, the Production R18 Mk2 is heavier than the CZ Bren 2. It is also considerably more accurate than my 14" CZ Bren 2, which starts out as a 2 MOA rifle and quickly opens up to 4 MOA when hot. The R18's extra barrel weight was necessary to obtain the MOA accuracy expectations of many prospective buyers right here on CGN. Go look at the comments which following my initial review of the R18. It is what it is - you can't have your cake and eat it too! Limited Pencil Barrels are still apparently available from SAI for those who would prefer that option, bringing the weight of the complete R18 down to 7.9 lbs unloaded. That is mere ounces heavier than the Bren 2 with comparable accuracy potiential.

So, you can have your R18 Mk2 with a pencil barrel that provides CZ Bren 2 accuracy at very close to the same weight, or you can have the R18 with a barrel that consistently shoots 1-1.5 MOA, but at an extra weight penalty of 2.3 lbs. The choice is entirely yours, but what you CANNOT have is a lightweight R1 Mk 2 that shoots MOA. Sorry, but the laws of physics still apply to Sterling Arms International....

What justifies the $1500 increase for the SAI over the KD ?
What am I getting for the extra $1500?

You are getting a superior standard of machining, to include a properly-angled Magazine Well with flared sides for easy insertion. You are getting AR15 controls with the addition of a Right-side, ambidextrous Bolt Release Lever and an ambi Safety. You also get a proper 3-part AR180 Gas System that will not break Pistons nor lose alignment. You get 1 to 1.5 MOA 5-round groups @ 100m using premium factory ammo. You get a properly sealed Upper Receiver with a Sliding Charging Handle that actually covers the Cocking Slot in the Receiver. You are getting a Picatinny Buttstock Interface and a properly dimensioned Picatinny Top Rail. You will get a rifle that won't break, but if you somehow break it or wish to upgrade something you will receive outstanding Customer Support direct from SAI's facility in Calgary.

I'd say that the above is easily worth the extra $1500 premium over the Gen 2 Kodiak Defence product. However YMMV.....

I'll keep my deposit with the shop but for now, I'll get something else. The MK2 looks good but I would have to see one in person and hold it before purchasing it. If there are a few famae's in 308 that could be purchased by CGS, I'll buy that.

That's because your 14" have a pencil barrel. The 16.5" Bren 2 have a heavy profile barrel.

Also an adjustable gas block over the WK/MCR, so you default to smoother shooting and less breakage inducing gas levels for nicer ammo, but can still dial up the gas for poorer ammo like steel case Russian or bad winter conditions.

On specs alone the R18MK2 appears more similar to the Sig MCX then the WK/MCR, the .556 brother of the U.S. Army's new Spear heavy rifle. It would be cool to see a face off of the R18MK2, MCX, and Bren 2 at range with the correct prohibited license.

This is why you don't hesitate to de-restrict new restricted rifles coming to this country. I literally took my Bren directly to Dlask immediately after 1st import.

Too many variables that can part you from your rifles here.

Yeah, but even de-registered, you can never really be sure that your NR rifle was removed from the gov't registry. Sure, you could lie about a tragic boating accident when they come fishing for it based on old registry data, but you can never risk bringing it into the light of day, let alone to the range or Crown Land. Catch-22.....

Theyll be what 10 non restricted dlask arms brens in the wild lol. Im not gonna spend 3400 on a bren and another 700 for them to ad there barrel and make it a NR rifle all to make it a paper weight in another 2 months.
