Ok first off this is not a WTS post, please DO NOT contact me.

I aquired this rifle in a bit of horse trading, didn't practice due diligence and lo and behold a peek down the barrel (at home) revealed a dark ring about halfway down  Stripping the barrel revealed not just a bulge but a bulge with a crack in it  Of course this was hidden under the stock thus helping me overlook it.

I can't really give it back (caveat emptor) so my questions are:

1. Is it worth trying to find a replacement barrel? Has anyone here had to replace a barrel on their 66?

2. If option #1 is cost prohibitive is there a market for parting out the gun?

3. Would it be ethical to sell such an unsafe gun "as is, where is", of course being upfront about all issues.

More than a bit pissed at myself, I would welcome any helpful suggestions (please no sage advice such as using it for a boat anchor :p)

Nylon 66's are very collectible and are great shooters. Spare parts are available on the net, however I do not know if barrels are available. In the event that you can't find a reasonably priced barrel, then yes part it out.

I have a minty "Seneca Green" model, these have sold for upwards of $800USD. The blacks and the browns are worth quite a bit less.

It is indeed rare for a .22 barrel to get pooched like that!

Good luck in finding a replacement barrel.

Put a WTB on the Part section of Equipment Exchange. I am sure someone will have one kicking around. They made around 1 million of these and the stocks can get pretty beat up, so it makes sense that some parts guns are around.

If that doesn't work, try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton.

finding one will be the problem with the barrel- it's a drop in as far as the replacement goes

I got a very good condition barrel for sale. it is the chrome/silver one. Some other parts as well including the magazine tube. pm if interested.

Telling me up front not to waste your precious time, (Don,t PM me ) tells me of someone who only speaks to mere mortals when one cannot for the life of oneself figure out what to do. Won't get much help from me. If it was a WTS post it would be under the EE heading right?

Thank you
